PASS North Series Rookie of the Year candidate Joey Doiron posted a 4th-place finish in the season-opening PASS 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 1. It was Doiron’s best career finish in three PASS North attempts. He was the highest-finishing rookie in the race. <\/p>\n

JOEY, HOW HAPPY WERE YOU WITH A 4th-PLACE RUN IN YOUR FIRST OUTING OF THE SEASON?
Oh, I’m pumped. I knew we could run this good (at Beech Ridge). We knew we’d come here (and be) good, and we went and tested at White Mountain and we were good there. Mike (Rowe) won and he’s not racing for points, so that puts us third. If we can go to White Mountain and have a good strong run, I think we’ll be poised for a good season. <\/p>\n

WALK US THROUGH THE SECOND HALF OF THE RACE. YOU HAD TO PASS A LOT OF CARS TO EARN A TOP-5.
Started off kind of slow and then fell back a little bit and then we got on the bottom and rode for a little while and then we had a caution. We got stuck on the bottom and everyone went by on the outside — and I was like, ‘Oh! Back to 20th.’ Then we finally had another caution, and I was able to get on the outside that time, and the thing just came alive on the outside. It went and went and went and went. Finally got up to like fifth, but I had to deal with a lot of lapped traffic. <\/p>\n

HOW WAS THE BATTLE WITH TREVOR SANBORN FOR FOURTH AT THE END?
I saw Trevor was having problems getting around (DJ Shaw). I’d kind of fallen back a little bit there, and I went back 100 percent trying to get to Trevor and I got to Trevor with four or five to go. I was able to slide up underneath him and run him up the hill. <\/p>\n
