{"id":470,"date":"2010-05-08T22:16:52","date_gmt":"2010-05-08T22:16:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maineracer.com\/wp\/?p=470"},"modified":"2010-05-08T22:16:52","modified_gmt":"2010-05-08T22:16:52","slug":"pass-south-wakefields-a-winner-at-wake-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/2010\/05\/pass-south-wakefields-a-winner-at-wake-county\/","title":{"rendered":"PASS South: Wakefield\u2019s a Winner at Wake County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\" \/><span style=\"line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt;\">Pro  All Stars Series (PASS) South super late model regular Justin Wakefield  survived  a wild finish to capture Friday nights\u2019 Capitol City Clash 150 at  Raleigh North  Carolina\u2019s Wake County Speedway. <span> <\/span>Wakefield took the lead  away from Ryan  Lawler with just two laps to go. Lawler hung tough in second, with  series point  leader Preston Peltier third. Home track hero Alex Fleming raced home  fourth and  Heath Hindman completed the top five.<br \/>\n<br \/><!--more--><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt;\">The  victory was Wakefield\u2019s fourth in PASS South competition. His last win  came in  July of 2009 at Hickory Motor Speedway.<span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt;\">For  the most part the field kept their cool as the laps clicked away,  running a hard  but patient race until the checkered flag was in sight. Just five  caution flags  slowed the first 144 laps.. Then came caution number six, <span> <\/span>and  the restart produced <span> <\/span>the kind of craziness only a tight  bullring like Wake County Speedway can create.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt;\">Preston  Peltier and Ryan Lawler led the field to the green <span> <\/span>and it  looked like Peltier might be able  to extend his PASS South win streak to three. Peltier seemed to have  Lawler  cleared but a nudge from behind had Peltier, Lawler and Ryan Blaney  three wide  and the field stacked up behind them. The caution flew and when the dust  cleared  the front five was shaken up considerably. Lawler now had the lead with  Blaney  second, John Stancill third, Justin Wakefield fourth and Alex Fleming  fifth.<span> <\/span>When the green flew again  Lawler led and Blaney tried to dive to the bottom but he hadn\u2019t quite  cleared  Stancill. The resultant crash ended Blaney\u2019s night. Andy Loden suffered  race  ending damage trying to avoid the wreck. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt;\">The  running order with four to go was Lawler in the lead with Wakefield up  to  second, Stancill third, Peltier back up to fourth and Alex Fleming  fifth. <span> <\/span>The front pair drag raced into turn one,  and Wakefield took over the lead for good on lap 148 Stancill was later  penalized for gaining spots on the track under caution; he was listed as  eighth  (last car on the lead lap) at the finish.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt;\">In  addition to Wakefield, Peltier and Lawler, Jay Fogleman and Devin Jones  each had  a turn at the front of the field early on. <span> <\/span>While Fogleman  only led a single lap,  Jones led over thirty before handing over the lead to  Lawler.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt;\"><span> <\/span>Andy Loden  earned his second pole award  of the season with a fast lap of 12.888 seconds around the .23 mile  oval, just a  tick faster than Devin Jones \u2018 12.901 .Ryan Blaney (12.904) Ryan  Lawler(12.945)  Jimmy Weller (12.971) completed the fast five.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt;\">PASS  South takes a break until May 29<sup>th<\/sup> when the OLD Glory 150  will mark  the series return to Concord (NC) Speedway.
