Ryan Blaney and Preston Peltier are locked in a battle  that could easily come down to a last lap change in position or even a tie  breaker when the pair slug it out at the Meltdown\u2019s latest venue, Newport (TN)  Speedway on Saturday October 16.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\" \/><span style=\"line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt;\"><span>Blaney leads  Peltier by just four points and there\u2019s a two point spread between each  finishing position. Peltier needs to gain three spots to take the crown and you  can bet that the hard charger will go all out to finish in front of Blaney.<span> <\/span>But the teenage short track superstar  has made it clear that he knows his way around Newport and Peltiers\u2019 task will  not be an easy one. Blaney won the Daniel Boone Classic at Newport earlier this  season and the 2009 PASS South rookie of the year has proven that he\u2019s got what  it takes to earn the championship. Both drivers have three visits to PASS  victory lane and nine top tens in the series\u2019 first twelve races, so it\u2019s only  fitting that they battle it out for the title in the season  finale.<br \/>\n<br \/><!--more--><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt;\"><span>There\u2019s a tough  group of northern invaders that will make their way south for the Meltdown. 2010  PASS North champ Johnny Clark has filed an entry ; he has <span> <\/span>a Mason-Dixon Meltdown win<span> <\/span>at South Boston (VA) Speedway <span> <\/span>but he\u2019s new to the high banks of  Newport. 2009 PASS South and PASS National champion Ben Rowe will make the trip  .He\u2019s the defending Mason Dixon Meltdown champion and he will look to wrap up  his PASS season on a high note. <span> <\/span>Trevor Sanborn has both PASS South and  North wins to his credit and he will wheel Richard Moody\u2019s potent  machine.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt;\"><span>The field will be  a deep one with Jay Fogleman, Andy Loden, Tennessee\u2019s own Heath Hindman, John  Batten, Steve Legendre, Tim Pinion, Brad McCaskill , Jake Crum, Jimmy Weller and  many more on the early entry list. Its 200 green flag laps around one of the  fastest and toughest tracks that PASS South visits, so anything can happen, and  it probably will!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt;\"><span>The Mason Dixon  Meltdown is the finale for the five race PASS National Championship series and  in that battle Peltier leads Johnny Clark by twelve and Jay Fogleman by thirty  one.<span> <\/span>The winner will have raced  from Maine to Florida in their quest for the title, the trophy, and the Quarter  Master Industries product award that goes with it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt;\"><span>There\u2019s a whole  lot more to this years\u2019 edition of the Mason-Dixon Meltdown than 200 green flag  laps of super late model excitement. On Friday October 15 Moonshine Madness will  feature PASS practice from noon until 4:00 PM and at 7:00 PM there\u2019s fifty lap  features for street stocks, front wheel drives and mod fours. A 75 lap limited  sportsman shootout caps off the racing activities and live music will follow. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt;\"><span>On Saturday  October 16 the PASS Super Late Models practice at noon, time trial at 4:00 PM  and race their last chance qualifier at 5:15 PM. There\u2019s a big money Legends  race, and Bandoleros on Saturday\u2019s card, and the Mason Dixon Meltdown is  scheduled for a 6:00 PM green.
