Tuesday night’s (July 3) event will include a dazzling fireworks display, complete with a full card of championship stock car racing, and Thunder Road will be back in action just two days later on Thursday (July 5) for regular weekly racing.

Tuesday’s fireworks show has long been a special part of the celebration in Vermont, and Thunder Road Vice President Darla Hartt feels this tradition is particularly memorable.

“I think the history here makes this event really unique,” remarked Hartt. “It’s the music, it’s the familiar family and friends, and it all comes together to make this fireworks show so different from any other,” she finished.

Three-time Thunder Road Late Model Champion Phil Scott inched closer to an unprecedented fourth title last Thursday night, closing the gap on points leader Nick Sweet to just seven points. Defending Champion Dave Pembroke will look to use the holiday week to chase down a third championship in 2012, with young Cody Blake and Trampas Demers hot on his heels.

Scott is excited to be a part of such a competitive group. “We feel really good about where we are, and it would really be extraordinary if we could be the first to earn four championships,” mentioned Scott. “But when I look at who we run with every week, Nick Sweet, Dave Pembroke, Cody Blake, the list really goes on and on. We’ve already had 6 different winners in 6 events, so it’s clear that all these teams are capable of winning. It’s going to be a tough battle all year long,” he finished.

Josh Demers has climbed atop the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsman standings and will try to distance himself from Mike Martin and a tie for third place between Bobby Therrien and former Tiger Champion Shawn Fleury. Allen Lumber Street Stock rookie Dean Switser will look to break the stranglehold of point leader Nick Pilotte, while Ken Christman, Tommy Smith, and Bunker Hodgdon attempt to close the gap.

All the action begins this Tuesday night, July 3 for the special fireworks event sponsored by Northfield Savings Bank. Post time will be 6:30. Adult admission is $12, a family pass is $25, kids 6-12 are $3, and children 6 and under are free.

For additional information head to www.thunderroadspeedbowl.com, call the office at (802) 244-6963, or email us at media@acttour.com.

Fireworks and Weekly Racing this Tuesday Night Barre, VT – As the nation celebrates Independence Day, Barre’s Thunder Road prepares with two weekly shows in a stretch of just three days.
