Babb, 19, extended his point lead with five races remaining with his fifth Top-5 finish in nine starts this season. Babb started 18th in the 22-car Super Late Model field, and without the benefit of a caution flag to tighten the field, worked his way into the Top-5 at the checkered flag. I think we gained 12 points on second-place, so I’m really happy. It is (important) – especially on a night like tonight when everyone else didn’t really go that far, it definitely helps to have a good car and not get into any trouble.

“You just get up there as far as you can and get a lot of points.”

HOW WAS THE CAR?

“The car was really good. With no cautions, we got up to fifth – so the car was pretty good to be able to go that far. I was happy with it.

“The right front tire actually started coming apart a little bit at the end. I got tight, but I was still faster than the cars ahead of me.”

WAS THE TRACK AFFECTED BY THE GOODYEAR RUBBER FROM THE ACT LATE MODEL TOUR CARS?

“Not too bad, but I think that was the problem with the tire coming apart. That doesn’t usually happen to anyone, and I heard of at least a couple of cars having that problem tonight. But the track itself felt like it had about the same grip it usually does.”

Brad Babb Racing: Beech Ridge Motor Speedway NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Race Report Brad Babb of Windham, Maine, finished fifth in the 45-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Pro Series feature at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, July 28.
