Babb, 19, started 16th in the 24-car field and had cracked into the Top-5 by the midway point of the event. He was second on a late restart with five laps remaining, but the No. 4 Babb Wood Contractors/McGoldrick Bros. Blasting Chevrolet ran out of time to track down eventual winner Charlie Colby. Babb had entered the week fourth in a tight point battle at Beech Ridge, and was the only front-runner to finish in the Top-5 Saturday.

WHO: Brad Babb, Windham, Maine
TEAM: No. 4 Babb Wood Contractors/McGoldrick Bros. I just needed a couple more laps (to catch Colby). It went really good on the long runs, once the air pressures came back up on the tires. They weren’t quite as good on the restarts.

I was catching Colby there at the end, but I just ran out of time. That thing was a bullet.

WAS IT A MATTER OF FINALLY HAVING SOME LUCK OR HAVING MADE CHANGES TO THE CAR THIS WEEK?
It was probably a combination of both. We made a whole bunch of changes this week. We took the car to Dale Shaw, and we had him set it up just like DJ (Shaw’s) car.

The race was good for us, too. It seemed like the car was always in the right line where the guys were moving forward ahead of us. Everything worked out.

HOW GOOD DOES IT FEEL TO HAVE THE CAR FINALLY PERFORM AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS OF BAD LUCK?
It’s good to know the car’s going good again now. We should have the point lead back again, and it’s obviously good to be back ahead (with two races remaining).

I had a pretty good idea (in qualifying) that it was going to be good, because our tire stagger was way off and the car was still really fast. With the car driving horrible, it was fast. We didn’t get it perfect, but we were awful close.

Brad Babb Racing: Beech Ridge Motor Speedway NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Race Report SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Brad Babb of Windham, Maine, unofficially reassumed command of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track standings with a second-place finish in the 45-lap Pro Series feature event at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, August 18.
