Lee, NH (April 4, 2009) – Final preparations are underway as the staff of
Lee USA Speedway, Route 125, Lee, NH; prepares for the tracks 2009 season
opener 18th and 19th of April.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The running of the annual "Governors Cup 150" Championship event for late
model stock cars and the popular American- Canadian Tour will highlight the
two day weekend. The race is run in honor of New Hampshire's chief
executive, the Honorable. John H. Lynch.<\/p>\n
This year's race will also be the first in a series of qualifying events for
the first annual "ACT INVITATIONAL" at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in
September. Over 40 cars have already entered.<\/p>\n
Top name drivers in Late Model competition from throughout New England and
Canada have entered the event. Several local racers are expected to enter.
Many Lee race teams, all part of the tracks weekly NASCAR Whelen
All-American Series, have shown interest in the season inaugural.<\/p>\n
ACT Tour Championship contenders, five-time ACT Champion, Brian Hoar,
Vermont drivers John Donahue and Brent Dragon, three-time Thunder Road
champion Cris Michaud, and former ACT Thunder Road champion Phil Scott, have
entered the race.<\/p>\n
Canadian hot shoe Donald Theetge has filed an entry as has Eddie MacDonald
who started his racing career at Lee. MacDonald is coming off a great 2008
season and was a strong force in last years Governors Cup.<\/p>\n
Lee regulars Wayne Helliwell, Jr., Bryan Kruczek, and Jeremy Harclerode have
entered the two-day special. Also, expected are former Lee champions Ricky
Wolf, J.R. Baril, and Dean Weber.<\/p>\n
Four other divisions will be a part of this year's opener. 'Open
Competition" will be run
in the Hobby Stocks welcoming the Strictly Stocks, Roadrunners-Mini Stocks,
Late Model Sportsman, Superstreets.<\/p>\n
The opening race for the small block supermodified division will be the
first event in a 14 race series. Dubbed the "P.B.Chopper Shop and Rods Super
Series," the winged warriors will contest in a 25 lap feature.<\/p>\n
