The XXX Series came to a conclusion this past weekend at Richmond Karting Speedway, as Austin Teras took the checkered flag and the 2012 XXX Championship. \u201cIt feels awesome, and it’s a great honor to be the 2012 XXX Series champion at RKS!!!\u201d <\/p>\n

The Friday nights XXX Series at RKS was a big success, and all the drives seem to prefer racing under the lights. I asked Austin if he noticed a difference in the track and the way the kart performed racing at night, \u201cThe kart has more power at night, and is free, but I like it because free is fast!\u201d

\nWith one championship under his belt this season, Austin is also the current point leader in the Jr. Sportsman Series at RKS, \u201cThat was our #1 goal of the year to try to win the Jr. Sportsman Series at RKS, it feels great to be leading the points going into the last few races. We won the Boxstock Championship last year, so this would make it even better.\u201d Austin is also 2nd in points in the Purple Plate Series at Oxford Plains Speedway.<\/p>\n

Austin is no stranger to victory lane as he taken the checkered flag numerous times this season. Austin explains the key to his success is, \u201cHaving consistency, and driving a smooth line is the key to get around. You need a good crew chief to make changes throughout the year as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

The one thing all the kart drivers may or may not be looking forward to is school starting. \u201cI am going into 5th grade this year, which is the middle school in my town. I am ready to start school, but I am sad because it means racing season is coming to an end in Maine.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
