\"\"<\/a>Barre, VT \u2013 More than 60 ACT Late Model teams are expected to pour into Thunder Road for the 50th Annual People\u2019s United Milk Bowl on September 29th and 30th from all over the Northeast and Canada, where only 30 teams will qualify for the big show. New in 2012, non-qualified cars will now get to race in a newly added $3,000 to win, 100-lap \u2018Reserve\u2019 Milk Bowl with posted awards of over $20,000.<\/p>\n

The race has added extra incentive for teams all over the region to attend.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think a lot of teams fear the amount of cars that come in here for this race,\u201d said three-time Thunder Road Champion Phil Scott. \u201cIt\u2019s such a huge race in this area, a lot of people go home without qualifying. This is a great way for everybody to participate in a big show for good money.\u201d
\n <\/p>\n

For local Late Model racer Marcel Gravel, who will be racing along with his son on Milk Bowl Sunday, it was a deciding factor. \u201cFor us local racers, this is so cool,\u201d said Gravel, a two-time Late Model victor at Thunder Road. \u201cObviously, I want to make the big show, but if I don\u2019t, it\u2019s nice to know I\u2019ll get a shot. This is a great opportunity for a low budget team like mine to get a big purse.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u2018Reserve\u201d Milk Bowl is another part of the monumental celebration that the weekend of the 50th People\u2019s United Bank Milk Bowl will include. A champion\u2019s dinner, bands, fireworks, tent dancing, bonfires, bagpipes, and drill teams will be part of the festivities and Allen Lumber Street Stock and Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen will get in on the action, settling their championships in \u201cMini-Milk Bowls\u201d.<\/p>\n

The fun begins on the weekend of Saturday, September 29th and Sunday September 30th. Post time for both days is 1:00pm.<\/p>\n
