Barre, VT — The biggest race of the year, The 50th People\u2019s United Bank Milk Bowl, has become the primetime focus for ACT teams across the region. 51 ACT Championship cars will enter Barre, VT\u2019s Thunder Road, in an attempt to earn the lion\u2019s share of a purse worth over $160,000.<\/p>\n
With championship chases behind them, the race will serve as a grudge match for a series of 2012 duels. 2-time Thunder Road Champion David Pembroke will attempt to dethrone rival 2012 King of the Road Nick Sweet, after claiming the pole position in the race through time trials. Sweet, who dominated the Thunder Road Late Model division on his way to his second title, will start directly behind him in third.

Another star will look for revenge from the front row, as eight-time American Canadian Tour Champion Brian Hoar will start second hoping to tie Robbie Crouch\u2019s record of 4 Milk Bowl wins. Hoar will have to go through newly crowned Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr, who has locked horns with the Williston, VT native all year long and is fresh off winning a heavyweight battle for the ACT title at Airborne Speedway last weekend. Helliwell would love nothing more than to cap off his season with his first-ever Milk Bowl victory.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy kids have always just wanted to see me kiss the cow,\u201d said Helliwell. \u201cI\u2019m not sure I\u2019m allowed to come home if I don\u2019t,\u201d he laughed.<\/p>\n
The Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen will settle their epic points battle as second-place Bobby Therrien sent his championship message claiming the victory in the first segment. Point leader Brendan Moodie, Jr. has his work cut out for him after finishing third, with third-place point driver Shawn Fleury just behind. The trio will hang it out on Sunday \u2013 starting in the rear of the field \u2013 in an all-out brawl for the 2012 Tiger Sportsman Title.<\/p>\n
Jefferson, NH\u2019s Nick Pilotte and Lyndonville, VT\u2019s Dean Switser, Jr. will settle their differences after battling head-to-head all year long for the Championship in the Allen Lumber Street Stock Mini Milk Bowl. Pilotte has all but wrapped up the title, which leaves the points pressure behind the pair as they go for the biggest money race of their season.<\/p>\n
The 50th People\u2019s United Bank Milk Bowl, along with a Late Model $3,000 to win Reserve Milk Bowl and Street Stock and Tiger Mini Milk Bowls, will roll off at 1pm on Sunday, October 14th.<\/p>\n
