{"id":90,"date":"2007-07-31T17:52:33","date_gmt":"2007-07-31T17:52:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maineracer.com\/wp\/?p=90"},"modified":"2007-07-31T17:52:33","modified_gmt":"2007-07-31T17:52:33","slug":"pass-south-ready-to-return-for-2007-saturday-of-speed-at-lanier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maineracing.com\/legacy\/2007\/07\/pass-south-ready-to-return-for-2007-saturday-of-speed-at-lanier\/","title":{"rendered":"PASS South Ready to Return For 2007 Saturday of Speed at Lanier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\"><span><em>Defending Race Winner Hopes To Repeat Success In Star-Studded Event<\/em><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">There are very few single events during the regular racing season where fans will see as much quality action as they will during the annual Saturday of Speed at Lanier National Speedway on Saturday, August 4th.&nbsp; And that is why over the past couple of years, the Saturday of Speed has become one of the biggest single-day events in the Southeast during racing&rsquo;s regular season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">In 2007, that tradition will continue, as the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models will headline an event that will also include the Georgia Asphalt Series (<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">GAS<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">) Pro Late Models, Southern All Star Truck Series and Aaron&rsquo;s Pro Challenge Series.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p><\/span><br \/><!--more--><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">&ldquo;This is one of our biggest races of the year,&rdquo; said Tom Mayberry, owner and president of PASS South.&nbsp; &ldquo;We were told to watch out for this event last year and it looked liked it wasn&rsquo;t going to disappoint us.&nbsp; Unfortunately, we had some rain to deal with and the race got moved back one day, but despite that, we had a great turnout of racers and of fans.&nbsp; All of the other series put on some great racing and we think it will be the exact same this year.&rdquo;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">&nbsp;<\/font><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">One driver who is looking forward to the return to Lanier National Speedway is PASS South part-timer Jason Hogan.&nbsp; Hogan won last year&rsquo;s caution-free event, taking the lead on lap 20 and holding off challenges from several drivers to win.&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">&nbsp;<\/font><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">The win was even more special because it came at Hogan&rsquo;s home track, where he has raced at since the 1994 start of his career.&nbsp; However, Hogan isn&rsquo;t expecting the same dominating performance that he put on in 2006.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">&nbsp;<\/font><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">&ldquo;With racers like Ryan Lawler, Dean Clattenburg and some of the other guys that run the PASS South Series, you never really expect an easy day at the track,&rdquo; said Hogan. Who has competed in three PASS South races in 2007, including a fourth-place run at Anderson Motor Speedway and a fifth-place run at Peachstate Speedway.&nbsp; &ldquo;But whenever you go to your home track, you like to feel like you have a little bit of an advantage.&nbsp; You have the hometown support.&nbsp; You have the experience.&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">&nbsp;<\/font><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">&nbsp;<\/font><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">&ldquo;We are really looking forward to going back.&nbsp; We&rsquo;ve always had good cars there and always really ran good.&nbsp; We are going to take the same car we won with there last year and hope for the best.&rdquo;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">&nbsp;<\/font><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">Hogan also says that the Super Late Models make for a perfect fit for Lanier, which races Pro Late Models at the track on a regular basis.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">&nbsp;<\/font><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">&ldquo;Lanier is such a tight little bullring,&rdquo; added Hogan.&nbsp; &ldquo;It&rsquo;s a place drivers have to get up on the wheel and race.&nbsp; It has always been a track that has provided good racing.&nbsp; It&rsquo;s got a good surface.&nbsp; It&rsquo;s got a good layout.&nbsp; It&rsquo;s got a lot of great fans that support it.&nbsp; It&rsquo;s one of the best tracks in the Southeast.&nbsp; I would say its really one of the nicer short tracks in the entire country.&nbsp; You can always look for great racing there.&rdquo;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">&nbsp;<\/font><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">A full schedule of events for the weekend will be released soon and can be found on PASS South&rsquo;s official website, www.racewithpass.com.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\">&nbsp;<\/font><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">For more information on the PASS South Series, contact Jeremy Troiano at <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">(704) <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">788-2134<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">, and for news regarding the PASS North Series, contact Mike Twist <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">(207) <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">590-1786<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: black; font-family: Helvetica\">.
