BARRE, VT – CARQUEST Auto Parts will present the 25th Vermont Governor’s Cup, a 100-lap Late Model stock car race at “The Nation’s Site of Excitement,” Barre’s Thunder Road, on July 12. The event is expected to draw over 30 race teams from northern New England, including some of the front runners of the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) championship series.<\/p>\n

Rich Pallai, Vice President of Marketing for CARQUEST Auto Parts, says his company has been looking forward to having a partnership with Thunder Road.<\/p>\n
“We have had a presence in Vermont for a few years, and during that time people have been telling us all about the exciting racing on Quarry Hill in Barre,” said Pallai. “CARQUEST is excited to be a part of Thunder Road, and I understand that the Vermont Governor’s Cup race has a long history. We are proud that the next chapter will include CARQUEST.”

Eric Williams of Hyde Park is the defending champion of the CARQUEST Vermont Governor’s Cup 100, and ownsand operates Eric’s Auto Repair near his home. <\/p>\n
“Any time an auto parts dealer sponsors an event at Thunder Road, it’s a good thing for small businesses like mine,” Williams said. “I know that CARQUEST is relatively new to our region, and it’s good to see them getting involved in local activities like Thunder Road. The Governor’s Cup is a great race that gets a lot of attention. I’ve won the Milk Bowl and other big races, and the Governor’s Cup ranks up there with them. I think CARQUEST will have a good time with us this summer at Thunder Road.”
