Super Late Model ace Justin Drake scores Oxford Plains Speedway victory

Oxford, Maine — Burnham’s Justin Drake earned his first Oxford Plains Speedway race victory of the season Saturday night.  Drake outran a quality field of Super Late Models in the 50-lap main event, topping the Budweiser Championship Series racing card at the historic Route 26 oval track for the third time in his career.

Drake swapped the early race lead with Ellsworth’s Andy Saunders, then held off challenges from Scott Robbins and Derek Griffith to post the win.  Robbins, of Dixfield, again impressed using the entire racing surface in his drive through traffic into the runner-up position, where he finished.

But, PASS North will return to action on Sunday, May 20 for their second visit of the season to Oxford Plains Speedway for the Honey Badger Bar & Grill 150. Waterboro, ME’s Curtis Gerry will look to continue his dominance of the legendary oval as his competitors look for the key to winning as they prep for August’s $25,000 to win Oxford 250.

TJ Brackett holds off Gabe Brown in Oxford Plains Speedway Super Late Model race

Oxford, Maine – TJ Brackett of Buckfield rocketed into the race lead on the first lap and held on to post his first victory of the season in Sunday’s 50-lap Budweiser Championship Series Super Late Model main event at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Brackett, a two-time track champion in the top class at OPS, needed all of his veteran savvy and track position to hold off a determined challenge by 15-year-old newcomer Gabe Brown of Center Conway, New Hampshire. Brown’s last-lap challenge from the outside groove fell short by inches, and just .012-seconds.
