Ben Rowe Hoping To Salvage Season With Another North-South Shootout Win

309-PASS South Print LogoCHARLOTTE, NC (October 29) – Since the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models first began turning laps on the short tracks of New England and Canada in 2001, Ben Rowe has been there virtually from the beginning. Rowe, a 4-time PASS North Super Late Model Champion and 2-time winner of the prestigious Oxford 250, has become a modern day short track racing legend thanks to his exploits in PASS over the last 15 years. But, PASS Super Late Model racing’s all-time winningest driver, with nearly 40 checkered flags to his credit, has struggled in recent seasons. Last year, Rowe came South to Caraway Speedway for the North-South Shootout hoping to end the year on a strong note. And, following a late-race caution that eliminated several contenders for the win, Rowe did just that, taking his first win of the season and first in the North-South Shootout.

Oxford, ME – Joey Doiron drove his #73 Wild Willy’s Burgers Chevrolet to a hard fought win in the Pro All Stars Series North season finale at Oxford Plains Speedway.  After a dismal performance at his best track in Beech Ridge just a few weeks ago, Doiron was determined to end his PASS North season with a statement, and he did just that.  Doiron took the lead with 18 laps to go from David Oliver to secure the victory in a very short 150 laps.  After the race, Doiron was ecstatic to be in victory lane.

“I really thought I cost myself the race there near the end,” Doiron said, referring to contact made in the last caution, “I just made a mistake with that lapped car, but we pulled it off! That was quite a battle with David, I found some grip on the outside and he was fast down on the bottom.”

Oxford, ME – Evan Beaulieu drove his #56 Hancock Lumber Chevrolet from the 20th starting spot to finish 13th in his first race at Oxford Plains in a Super Late Model.  In the longest race the 21 year old driver has run, the race only had three cautions with a green flag run going for over 90 laps, making it tough to pick up spots as the 36 car field spread out around the 3/8th mile track.  After what has been a disappointing sophomore season, Beaulieu was thrilled to leave Oxford Plains with the finish.

“I grew up watching these guys race here, so just to be a part of it is really special to me,” Beaulieu said after the race, “I wanted a top ten, and we were there towards the end but by the time the yellows flew at the end there I had used up my right rear and I was fighting grip pretty bad on those restarts.  We still had a great finish though and for our first actual PASS race, I’m proud of that effort.”
Beaulieu started tenth and after getting shuffled back in his heat race, he wound up finishing seventh while only the top six advanced into the show, leaving the rest to run the consolation race. Beaulieu started on the pole of the 15 lap “consi,” and lead the whole way to win, and giving himself a 20th place starting spot in the stacked 36 car Super Late Model field.

Oxford, ME – DJ Shaw and the Precision JLM Racing team fought through a long Pro All Stars Series North season, and had to overcome plenty of adversity and the grueling demands of racing against some of the best drivers in the Northeast.  After their runner up finish in the “Ripley & Fletcher Ford 150,” their hard work was rewarded as they were crowned as PASS North Champions.  While going into the race with a points cushion over six time PASS North Champion Johnny Clark, Shaw knew anything could happen and was going to run as hard as he could to secure the title.
“It’s been an incredible season, and to see our cars go 1-2-3 in the season finale makes it even better,” Shaw said from Victory Lane, “Today was just a fantastic day. I thought that last caution was going to hurt us, but we fought hard and got the finish we needed. Johnny (Clark) had a strong season, as well, and I congratulate him and his team for that. Today was our day, and now it’s time to celebrate. I’m thankful for my great car owners Rita and Julio Miglioli, all of our partners, my parents and this great team for all their support.”
