PASS NorthMulkern Racing: PASS North Series
Oxford Plains Speedway Race Report

Scott Mulkern of Falmouth, Maine, posted a season-high finish of sixth in the PASS North Series Dunkin Donuts 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, on Saturday, July 21. Mulkern, making only his fourth start in 2012, was part of a two-car effort at Oxford as teammate Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, New Brunswick, finished 16th. Sommerville started sixth in the 31-car field, but he brought out a caution just two laps into the event when a loose part inside of his race car inadvertently shut off the engine. Mulkern started deep on the grid in 20th and had moved into the Top-10 by the halfway mark of the race, but his forward progress stalled out after a long green flag run.

A ‘Crazy’ Time Of Year
Crazy Horse Racing Teams Ready To Prove Their Mettle At Oxford

If there’s one thing Travis Stearns points to this year, it’s just how consistent his race cars have been in weekly competition at Oxford Plains Speedway.

With a pair of wins, five Top-5s and no finish worse than sixth in seven races this season, Stearns has a 31-point lead over the rest of the field as the Late Model world descends upon Oxford for this weekend’s 39th annual TD Bank Oxford 250. Practice is on Saturday and Sunday, with qualifying set for 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon and the main event in the evening.
Stearns is as excited about this weekend’s edition of the prestigious short-track race as he has been about any prior.

Dale Shaw Race Cars Looking for Fourth-Straight Oxford 250 Win

DJ Shaw has spent the 2012 season running PASS Super Late Models in the Northeast and chasing the overall season championship. Last week he recorded his best finish of the season, a second-place run at Thompson International Speedway in Connecticut. Shaw hopes the team’s momentum after that finish can catapult him to success this weekend in the TD Bank 250 at Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway.

“It was a good finish last week at Thompson and we needed a good run,” said Shaw. “I would like to have won the race, but every driver says that after a race. We got a chance to boost the team morale and we’ll use that heading into Oxford this weekend. Hopefully we can string together some success like we did at the end of 2011.”
