Travis Poulliot, of Madison, Maine has been spending a lot of time over the winter getting ready for the green flag to fly. “This offseason has been busier than ever, acquiring a new car for 2015 and making plans for the 2015 race season.”
Travis is doing double duty this race season racing at two different tracks Speedway 95 and Wiscasset Speedway. “We will be running Speedway 95 and Wiscasset during 2015. We will be starting the season in Hermon, (Speedway 95) and at the very least attending the 75 lapper at Wiscasset. Our major goal is to run up front consistently and be a contender for the win every week. I love how big and how fast Wiscasset is and the atmosphere is great. I’ve never set tires on Speedway 95 so that’ll be a new thing this year as well.” (more…)

Brenton Parritt of Steuben led all 50 laps of the Hopkins Landscaping and Paving Dysart’s Late Model feature Saturday night at Speedway 95, but the win was never assured until the checkered flag fell with Hermon’s Mike Hopkins right behind him all the way. Hopkins mounted a late race challenge in the closing laps, but was unable to unseat Parritt from the top spot. Hopkins finished in second with Wayne Parritt Jr. of Steuben fending off John Kalel II of Orrington to take third. Kalel finished fourth after coming from the rear of the field following a lap 16 spin in turn three that caused the race’s only caution. Last week’s winner, Andrew McLaughlin of Harrington, finished fifth. The race actually finished under the caution after Orrington’s Jim Robichaud spun in turn two after the white flag was shown to the leader. According to the rules, when that occurs, the race continues and the yellow and checkered flags are displayed when the field crosses the finish line. Rounding out the top ten were Milo’s Nick Jenkins, Lloyd Nickerson of E. Corinth, Dean Smart of Bradley, Hermon’s John Curtis Jr. and Dana Wilbur of Winterport, in that order.

Brad and Jayson Bosworth of Cornville led all 35 laps of the Coca Cola Company Sport-Four Series race #1 at Speedway 95 Saturday night, with a surprise twist at the end determining the winner. Brad Bosworth led the first 33 laps of the race with brother Jayson, Newburgh’s Darren Durrell, Milford’s Garett Hayman and Carmel’s Ted Ryder all fighting for positions two through five. When the third caution of the event stopped the action on lap 33 for a solo spin in turn one by Dixmont’s Lewis Batchelder, the Bosworths lined up on the front row for the restart and, when the green fell, Brad resumed his lead when Jayson missed a shift and fell to fifth by the time the field reached turn one.
As luck would have it for Jayson, the yellow flew again before the lap was complete when rookie Dylan Street of Old Town and Hermon’s Andrew Crosby tangled and spun in turn three while jockeying for the sixth spot. Because the lap was not completed, Jayson was placed back in the second position on the restart alongside brother Brad, who was still the leader. When the green flew, it was Brad’s turn to miss a shift, and Jayson assumed the lead which he held for the final two lap run to the checkers. Brad finished in second after a spirited battle with Darren Durrell for the spot. Durrell finished in third with Hayman finishing fourth after racing side by side with Ryder for the final laps with Ryder finishing fifth. Rounding out the top 10 in the 22 car field were Donny Silva of Hudson, Jeremy Scott of Carmel, Dennis and Becky Burns of Carmel , and Dixmont’s Lewis Batchelder. Heat race winners for the night were Jason Trundy of Winterport, Brad Bosworth and Jayson Bosworth.

A good and enthusiastic opening day crowd at Speedway 95 watched what started as a runaway for Orrington’s John Kalel II turn into a spirited battle for the win in the Hopkins Landscaping and Paving 50 lap feature for the Dysart’s Late Models. The race went caution free for the first 30 laps, with Kalel opening up a straightaway lead after early challenger Wayne Parritt of Steuben had to give up his second place spot on lap 8 when a loose sway bar forced him to the pits. When the caution fell on lap 30 for a solo spin by Hermon’s Greg Ellis, who was running fourth at the time, the field was bunched up with Kalel maintaining his lead on the restart until the caution fell again on lap 41 for a solo spin in turn 1 by Orrington’s Jim Robichaud. On the restart, Winterport’s Ryan Deane took the point as Kalel fell back as far as third in the shuffle. Harrington’s Andrew McLaughlin showed he would be a force to be reckoned with this season as he wrestled the lead away from Deane and led for 2 laps until the caution fell again on lap 44 when rookie Bradley Smart of Bradley went off course in turn four. When the green fell again, it was Deane and Kalel battling for position that brought out the race’s final caution, when Deane spun off turn one. Kalel then outraced McLaughlin for the final 5 laps to post the win. McLaughlin finished second with Steuben’s Brenton Parritt coming from a 12th place start to finish third. Winterport’s Shane Clark, who ran in the top five all race finished fourth with Hermon’s John Curtis Jr. of Hermon finishing a strong fifth in the 15 car field. Parritt and Kalel each won a qualifier earlier in the evening.

Rain caused postponement of the 40 lap Dysart’s Late Model feature at Speedway 95 on Saturday night and shortened the 25 lap Sport-Four feature to 21 laps. At the end of the 21st lap, Donny Silva of Hudson was in the lead, and was declared the winner when the event was stopped due to rain. Just prior to the last lap run under green, the race was halted three times before lap 20 could be completed. Ted Ryder of Carmel was in the lead when the first yellow flag was thrown on lap 20, with Silva having come from the rear of the field to the second spot by lap 10. Ryder’s lead was substantial at the time, but Silva was slowly catching the season’s points leader. When the first yellow fell, Silva lined up beside Ryder for the restart. When the green fell, the duo raced side by side until the yellow fell for the second time. Again they lined up side by side for the restart, and stayed that way when the green fell again. As they approached the start finish line side by side for the third time on lap 20, the yellow flew again. On the restart, Silva was able to forge ahead of Ryder and hold the lead until the caution came out for rain on lap 21. After circling the track for about ten minutes, the race was called official, the remainder of the program scrubbed, and Silva was declared the winner. Ryder finished second with pole sitter Andrew Crosby finishing third. Fourth went to James Goodman of Orrington with Brock Worster of Kingfield finishing fifth.
