This weekend the North East Mini Stock Tour (NEMST), will start the 2014 race season at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS). In the off season NEMST founder and promoter Bob Guptill has been working hard getting ready for the upcoming race season, “We have been busy signing on even more new tracks for the 2014 schedule as well as numerous new sponsors big and small for all events.”
This will be the 6th year of racing for the NEMST, “The previous 5 seasons have flown by. I can’t wait to kick off 2014, by far our most exciting year yet. Every race this season is a special event either by the facility it is held, the increased purse, or “Triple Crown” involvement. It is for sure going to be an epic year.”

Saturday the Texas Roadhouse North East Mini Stock Tour made their fourth visit to Waterford Speedbowl for their annual Four Cylinder Fury event. RH2Way, Z-Best Pizza, and Jett Fabrication added in extra bonuses to NEMST and Waterford teams that attempted the 50 lap main event. Heat was the big issue of the day causing cars and tempers to flair with problems throughout the days events.
27 cars registered for Saturday’s portion of the first ever NEMST double-header weekend. Toby Wells, Marc Panaroni, and Glen Thomas all secured heat race wins. 4 rows were inverted by heat winner Toby Wells. The field was lined up with Garret Denton and Sean Caron sitting on the front row. The race got off to a ballistic start with 4 cautions in the first 14 laps due to spins that left cars sitting on the track surface.

Five laps into the race, a caution was thrown when Mason slowed on the front stretch, then went off the track on turn one. Swallow became race leader. Thomas and Fortin were close behind, looking for the lead. This track order did not last long as Thomas was unable to keep up, and Fortin passed him in lap six. No. 88 driven by Emerson Cayer was proving to be a force on the field, and advanced to fifth from his eleventh place start.

NEMST Set To Debut At Stafford Motor Speedway
Stafford Motor Speedway is and iconic track in the history of New England auto racing and has seen many famous drivers from around the country wheel around its half-mile oval. This year marks the 42nd year of the CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler and headlines with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. This will be the first year that the NEMST, in its 5th season of competition, has been invited to the track with rocket fast 4-cylinder race cars. This will also be the first year the NEMST visits all three Connecticut race tracks.
The Texas Roadhouse NEMST kicked off its 2013 season April 14 at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH with part time tour competitor Zach Audet dominating the event leading 44 of the 50 green flag laps. Audet is questionable for the trip to Connecticut about 6 hours from his Skowhegan, ME home. All time NEMST win leader Emerson Cayer is excited for the trip to the southern New England track and the speeds that come with the ½ mile oval. Mini-stocks have not raced on the track since an exhibition event in 2009.
