Barre, Vt. – Thunder Road officials announced today that Allen Lumber Company has signed a multi-year agreement to return as the title sponsor for the track’s Street Stock class. The upcoming 2018 season will be the 26th consecutive year that the Vermont-based company has been associated with the Street Stocks.
Allen Lumber Company is one of the longest-running continuous entitlement sponsors at Thunder Road. They began their sponsorship of the Street Stocks in 1989 when it was an eight-cylinder division. After a one-year association with the Flying Tigers in 1992, they resumed their partnership with the Street Stocks in 1993 when it became a four-cylinder class.

Barre, Vt. – Thunder Road Speedbowl honored the top performers of the 2017 racing season at the annual Banquet of Champions on Saturday, November 4 at the Barre Elks Club. Hundreds of drivers, crew members, and officials were in attendance to present season-long and special awards.
Bobby Therrien received the honors of “King of the Road” for his first championship in the Thunder Road Late Model division, while Jason Woodard and Jamie Davis were recognized for their second career championships in the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and Allen Lumber Street Stocks, respectively. Mike Martin earned the Myers Container Service Triple Crown Series title for the Flying Tigers.

Barre, Vt. – Thunder Road officials announced today that Jason Woodard has been disqualified from his apparent victory in the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger Mini Milk Bowl held as part of the 55th Vermont Milk Bowl on Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1.
As part of post-race technical inspection following the two-segment event, tire samples were taken from Woodard’s car and sent to an independent laboratory for further evaluation. Lab testing revealed that Woodard’s tire had been illegally altered.

Barre, Vt. – Hometown driver Jason Corliss earned the biggest win of his Thunder Road Late Model career on Sunday, October 1, beating out South Burlington’s Trampas Demers to with the 55th Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank. It was the fourth Late Model win of the season and eighth of the young standout’s career.
Corliss entered the third and final 50-lap segment bringing up the rear of a four-car battle for that saw Barre’s Nick Sweet, Colchester’s Scott Payea, Demers, and Corliss separated by just four total points. While Sweet fought an ill-handling car and Payea struggled to move through the field, Demers and Corliss sliced through traffic and found themselves sitting fourth and fifth with less than 20 laps to go.

Barre, Vt. – Wolcott’s Marcel J. Gravel will lead the 55th Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank on Sunday, October 1. The sophomore Thunder Road Late Model competitor circled the high banks in 12.236 seconds to set a new track record, eclipsing the previous mark of 12.245 seconds set by Sylvain Metievier at the 1995 Milk Bowl.
Gravel was the 32nd driver to take time on Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Milk Bowl Qualifying Day and laid down the record-breaking lap on his first trip around the speedway. In doing so, he knocked South Burlington’s Trampas Demers off the top spot. Demers settled for second with a near-record time of 12.267 seconds and will start on the outside pole on Sunday.

Barre, Vt. – The 55th Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Saving Bank is just days away at Barre’s Thunder Road. The latest edition of the historic event will come to the starting grid at 1:00pm on Sunday, October 1, capping what will be an action-packed weekend featuring the best Late Model racers and teams in the region.
Excitement has been building all month for the historic event that dates back to 1962. With its unique three-segment format and storied tradition, the Milk Bowl has taken on a special significance to the teams that compete in it, and dozens of top drivers will be looking to join the exclusive fraternity of winners or add another entry into the record books.
