Story by Chris Roy

10 yr old Levi Lawrence, from Mechanic Falls, Maine is one of the young guns racing at Richmond Karting Speedway. Racing in the Boxstock Division Levi, is currently 2nd in point behind fellow competitor and friend Austin Teras.

The Levi says the key to getting around RKS is, “being smooth in the corners and not jerking it.” Not only does Levi race the car he works on the car in the pits as well, changing the tires. The Karts had raced the day before Levi finished 2nd behind Austin, So I asked him is it his turn to win today? And Levi replied with a smile, “Yep”, and that exactly what he did taking the checkered flag for the 3rd times this season.

Though schools is done for the summer I asked Levi how is he spending his summer other than racing. “I’m going to Summer Rec, and going on field trips”.

Though looking to the future the driver of the 38 go-kart is looking to one day get into a PASS Modified race car.

Levi and Austin have won every race this season in the Boxstocks except for one, Levi is currently 46 points out of 1st place and looks to close that margin even more in the next race and eventually take home the 2011 championship at the end of the season.
