Story by Chris Roy

This past weekend the drivers returned to the race track, and with names like Benjamin, Rowe, and Lachance, driving as fast as they could go. But it is not quite what you think, this is the next generation of drivers Kaleb Benjamin, Noah Lachance, Gunnar Rowe, and Braxton Rowe as they race in the kart series at Richmond Karting Speedway (RKS).

The fans got free admission on Saturday to watch the races and an amazing show put on by the monster truck “Crushstation”. After a full day of racing and the final checkered flew and the awards were handed out, there was a Lobster Feed.

Then on Sunday the drivers returned to RKS for another day of racing, though there was a familiar face in the pits as NASCAR K&N Pro Series, driver DJ Shaw, competed in two of the races. Starting on the pole and taking the checkered flag in his 1st race. Then in the second race DJ, finishing 2nd behind teammate Kelsey Babb.

There are 9 different divisions of racing at RKS, the drivers there range from the rookie driver just getting started and learning how to race on the track, to the experienced driver competing in the Sr. Sportsman. As the drivers progress with age and experience they move up through the divisions.

The drivers return to RKS Friday night to race under the lights, so come watch as this next generation of racers take on Richmond Karting Speedway.
