This Friday night the Kart will be racing under the lights at Richmond Karting Speedway (RKS). Austin Teras driver of the number 29 is the current points leader in the BoxStock Series is all set for the sun to go down and the lights to come on.
After last weekends race Cushman Competition put a new kart together for the race, so he hopes it goes well, but not sure. When it comes to racing at RKS If you ask Austin which he prefers the night racing or racing under the sunny sky, this is his reply, “Under the lights it’s the best!”
The karts race a little faster at night, as the engines take in that cooler air. I asked Austin if he noticed a difference in speed at night, his reply was, “Yes the track is colder, faster, and it has more grip when racing at night.”
Austin is racing the 29 car at Richmond and Oxford Plains Karting, what the difference was between to the two track, Austin explains, “Oxford is very bumpy and it’s smaller, no good passing, RKS is smooth, bigger and there is a lot of passing anywhere on the track.” So when it comes to racing karts, RKS is defiantly his favorite.
Though the driver has spent the entire summer racing, “We just got back from Canobie Lake Park, hanging out with friends at the lake, #17 Ivan Kaffel, and playing “Need for Speed” on Xbox.”
So this Friday night when the gates open, the sun goes down and the lights come up, Austin and the rest of the drivers look to put on a great show for all the spectators to see.
