SPECIAL NOTE FROM THE SCORING TOWER – PLEASE READ
Roger, Cory, and Alicia would like to take this oppurtunity to explain our rules for scoring and placing drivers in the correct order on the track. There was some confussion during our Jr Sportsman Race on Sunday so I want to be sure that everyone is clear on how the scoring works. We will copy straight from the rule book, so we hope this may explain better how this works.

Rule One: Races will be restarted after a yellow using the last completed lap by the leader. RKS Rule Book Pg 12
This means that if a driver advances a position during a current lap and the yellow is thrown, the driver will restart according to the previous lap scored losing that advancement.
The reason for this rule is that we do not have the capabilities of scoring multiple loops on the track as Nascar would, So RKS does score the previous lap as many other tracks do as well.

exception

Rule Two: If the caution is thrown after the white flag is displayed, the race will be considered over. The race will be scored according to the white flag lap with the drivers involved with the caution being placed to the back of the white flag lap. RKS Rule Book Pg 13
This means once the white flag has been displayed to the leader the next flag will end the race whether it be the caution flag or the checkered flag. And the drivers are scored in the position they crossed the start finish line.

Using Sunday’s race as an example to this rule, the leader (12) was displayed the white flag exiting turn 4 the caution was thrown and the order scored at the line was (12)(38)(29)(77)and(34) as your top 5.
I hope this clarifies the rule a bit better.

It is important to RKS staff that we make sure the rules are enforced in the order they are written. Please note that we will look at any situation possible and make the best call that we can. All calls are looked at by all three scorers and made at the track. Once the call has been finalized at the track, the call will stand as made.

We would like to again thank everyone for such an awesome opening day and look forward to this Sunday.
