Ivan Kaffel drive of the number 17 kart is doing double duty this weekend as he enters the Mainely Motorsports 400 at Richmond Karting Speedway. Ivan is all set for the green flag to fly, “We have been doing pretty good this year, I think we arte ready.”

Ivan and the Kaffel Motorsports Team have been busy this season, “We have been racing all over New England this year. Some of the tracks we have been at are Route 106 Race Park in Pembroke, NH, Woodstock Fair in Woodstock, NH, Richmond Karting and the new NHMS track.”

One of the toughest race track is the kart track at NHMS, the driver have to drive up a hill on the front stretch and back down on the back stretch. “That’s fun, it has that 35ft hill and you can really fast, and that my favorite part.”
Ivan has a lot of success at RKS in the past and knows how to get around the track. Though he points out that his toughest competition will be Austin Teras.

Though the one thing the drivers and teams we wondering about was the setup of the cars and the weather. As the car practice under the cloudy skies Saturday morning and the sun try to break through in the afternoon. As Ivan comments on the subject, “It might make it a little more slippery but, not really.”

Though Ivan did explain the key to winning here at RKS, “Hold it wide open.”

The Jr. Sportsman ran their feature race Saturday racing up in the top 3 the 17 kart got together with another kart and ended up spinning out on the back stretch. As the drivers took the green flag, Ivan quickly drove from the rear of the field up into 3rd place, as the checkered flag flew .
