Opening day at Richmond Karting Speedway (RKS) is on April 27th as the drivers and crews get ready for the 1st green flag of the season. Colby “The Bullet” Benjamin of Belfast, ME, though there wasn’t much racing in the off season Colby found plenty of things to keep him busy, “In the off season I have been hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and playing indoor baseball.”

This upcoming season “The Bullet” will get plenty of seat time racing in karts, “In the 2014 season my plans are to run gold plate at RKS and try some new tracks around New England. I like night races, because I like being under the lights.”

The RKS 2014 schedule this season has the drivers racing on either Friday nights, or Saturday or Sunday afternoons. “I like the schedule this season with there being races on different days of the weekend and some that are not for points. The most exciting part of the schedule is the return of the Mainely Motor Sports race.”

With Colby’s success in 2013 at RKS, racing in a couple different series and finding his way to victory lane. “We had a great season at RKS. We raced in 32 features winning 8 of them with 27 top threes. We also won in 3 different classes. Blue flathead, blue animal, and gold plate. I guess my secret would be that I always want more, sometimes to much, if I am 14th I want 13th and if I am 2nd I want 1st.”

With all the memories and success during the 2013 race season at RKS,  “My most memorable moment was crossing the finish line on the last points race knowing that I had won the race and the championship in the blue plate class.”
