In the first race of the season the #7 car ran into some mechanical issues, but was able to correct the problem and finish the race last weekend in 3rd place. “Yes, we did fix it. I’m glad we did because it had slowed the kart down.”
This Friday night is the first race under the lights this season, “Yes! I can’t wait! Not only do I get to see my favorite people but I get another chance for the checkered!”
There are some really good drivers in racing against Kayla in the Unrestricted Sr. Sportsman Series, so what will it take to get the #7 kart into victory lane. “I think the most important thing to get the kart to victory lane this season is focus and effort! Every move, and every pass to perfection.”
The weather has not been cooperating with a lot of the race tracks this season, “I really hope that the weather has ‘tired itself out’. I hope since the rain has cancelled a few races it’s done and over with for the rest of the season.”
Last season Kayla won her first Championship at RKS. “Winning the championship last season was truly amazing! I’m not sure if we’re going to race for a championship this season. It depends on our points placing within the next few weeks.”
The 2014 race schedule at RKS is a busy one, “I really like the schedule at RKS this season. We will be racing at other places including Londonderry, Route 106, and hopefully a little more traveling. Since we haven’t traveled very much the last few seasons we’ll be doing some of our traveling with the #27 kart of Carter Patterson.”
