So what is it like for a driver to get their first win at Richmond Karting Speedway, well Alex Moore of Oxford, Maine can tell you all about it, “Out of this world, people could not think or say how fun it is.”

Alex won the heat race earlier in the day and sat on the Pole for the feature race. Midway through the race the 47 kart got past Alex, then on the last lap Alex was able to make the pass coming out of 4 to get his first career win at RKS . “Ok well I was sitting second and I felt I was about 2 car lengths behind the leader when coming into turns 3 & 4. We came out of 4 with the white flag waving and I thought I was going to end up second. A lap car was ahead of us so when the 47 went high to pass, there was an opening on the inside. I knew I had to make a quick decision to either follow him or go to the inside. I picked the inside hoping would come out in front, he came down and hit me. I saw one of the flag men in the infield wave the yellow flag but the green light was still on. Coming out of 4 one last then I started to cry and scream Oh My God, I Won.”

Before the race Alex tried something new to get his mindset for the race and told everyone he was not going to win, “I told everybody that I would not win because all the other weeks I said I would win but fail to accomplish, so I did reverse psychology and said I would not win and guess what……. I WON!!”

After his first ever win Alex celebrated in true kart racing style, “I was the first to jump into my grandparents pool and then go to Bethany’s in Mechanic Falls and had a large chocolate ice cream.”

The drivers return to RKS this Saturday, so is Alex and the 21 Kart all ready for this weekend’s race? “Yes we are all set for this week’s race.”

Now that school is done for the summer, Alex has already made his plans for the summer. “To have the best birthday ever and a perfect race season, because it is my last year in blue plate.”

Alex would like to thank some of his biggest fans – “My Auntie Karla my grandmother for bringing the food and my Mom but last I strongly want to thank my grandfather for working on the car every single week.”
