Epping, NH –  17 Year-old Pro Stock driver, Derek Griffith overcame two flat tires during the June 28, 2014 Granite State Pro Stock Series 100 lap event from Star Speedway to post a 5th place finish.

Derek started 5th in the feature event and suffered a flat left-rear tire at lap 20. A pit-stop to change the tire forced the No. 12 MOM’s of Manchester/LCM Racing Toyota Camry to lose a lap. Griffith fought the ill-handling car into a top-10 spot, when on lap 28 another tire went down.

During another pit-stop to change the second flat tire, the crew made some adjustments which worked well and as the race continued, Derek was one of the fastest cars on the track. Derek commented, “I can’t thank my crew enough, Louie [Crew Chief Louie Mechalides] made all the right adjustments and we were very fast until around lap 80, when we got involved in an accident and bent a spindle.”
Derek was still able to drive through the spindle adversity and race his way to a top-5 finish.
“I am really looking forward to our next GSPSS race, which is at Lee USA Speedway on July 25th, but from now until then, we will be bringing our new Super Late Model up to Oxford Plains Speedway and attempting to qualify for the Oxford 250. I can’t tell you how exciting I am to get this opportunity”, said Griffith.
Derek currently sits 4th in the points race with the Granite State Pro Stock Series, just 44 points out of 1st place.
