11 year old Kate Re of Lovell, Maine is getting ready for the 2015 race season in the Junior Sportsman Division, at Richmond Karting Speedway. “I’m excited to start the racing season and am almost ready. The karts are mostly ready having participated in two motorsports shows this winter – Northeast Motorsports Expo and Racin’ Preview 2015. We still have some mechanical work to do but we are ready for the most part.”

Even in the off season, the Re race team has been gearing up for race new season. “We did a couple car shows in the off season, helping to support Richmond Karting Speedway. I’ve also done a lot of snowmobiling and we’ve been getting some new safety equipment for the upcoming season.”

Opening day for the 2015 race season at RKS is April 26th. “I plan to race clean but more aggressive than I did last year. I’d like to win more than one race and maybe even contend for the Championship.”

Working on the race car with her crew chief, is one of reasons for Kate’s success at RKS . “It gives me a better understanding of how the Kart operates. Knowing this helps me be a better racer because I can tell my dad (my crew chief), how the kart is handling and what needs to be changed to make it run better. “

Last season Kate raced the 10 kart in the Boxstocks, this season she will be racing in the Jr Sportsman. “The Jr. Sportsman is a faster class, I think it will be more fun.”

There is a lot of strong competition in the Jr Sportsman Division, so can Kate win the championship this race season? “I think I can and I’m going to try, but it’s not going to be easy. I race with a lot of good drivers.”

Kate would like to thank this year’s sponsors for their support; without them, she wouldn’t be able to enjoy the sport she loves so much.

A huge thank you to Corey Morgan at the Sign Store for doing a great job on the stickers – Kate won Best Appearing Go-Kart at both the Northeast Motorsports Expo and Racin’ Preview 2015.
