Winter is almost gone and Kate Re, of Lovell, Maine will be back behind the wheel of the #10 kart, racing in the sportsman series at Richmond Karting Speedway. “I’ve been working on the karts, snowmobiling, going to school, spending time with family and making decisions on the upcoming race season.”
The 2016 race season will be a non-stop adventure for the driver and pit crew of the #10 kart. “KR Motorsports has some great plans for the 2016 race season. We’ll be racing on the dirt at Bartlett Bridge Raceway, in the ladies division. We are also returning to Richmond Karting Speedway this season, running in the Sportsman Division. I’ve also been given the opportunity by one of my sponsors, to try a modified during private practice sessions this summer; which I’m really looking forward to.”
One thing all drivers need to become great is experience, “If I want to race cars I need to learn to adapt to different tracks and driving styles. I also think it would be fun to race against all women. No, I don’t have any experience on dirt tracks but I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s all about – May 20th with be my first start on a dirt track.”
Doing double duty this season, the #10 pit crew is going to be busy setting up the karts as well as travelling to 2 different tracks each weekend. “It’s going to be a very busy season but we are ready for more racing and trying different tracks. We are very excited to see what the season will bring.”
The legends and the bandolero cars have raced on the road course at NHMS. So what if there was a road course race for karts here in Maine? “I think it would be cool, it would remind me of Maine Indoor Karting, making left and right turns.”
Sponsors are big part of the race teams making it possible to race every weekend. “I have one new sponsor for this season, which is also my family – the Winchenbaugh Family. I have four returning sponsors for this year as well, and would like to thank them for their continued support – Albany Auto, Worster’s Marine Center, Worster Rubbish and Anderson Racing.”
Kate would like to let all her fans know about the 2016 race season. “We are very excited about the upcoming season and new opportunities, I hope to see lots of fans at the races this season. Please get out and support ALL your local race tracks this summer, there is some great racing in the State of Maine. Always remember to believe in your dreams and never give up, one day they just may come true. Don’t forget to follow KR Motorsports on Facebook for exciting news and updates on race day activities.”
