Kenny MacKenzie Jr. did something on Saturday night his father has never been able to do at Speedway 660. Junior won his DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock Division heat, dash and feature.
“Dad won back to back Martins Home Heating Sportsman championships here at Speedway 660, but he never won his heat, dash and feature on the same night” said a jubilant Kenny MacKenzie Jr. from the Riverview Ford Lincoln Victory Lane. “This is awesome, as a rookie I never expected to have this kind of success this quickly and it sure is a big boost to my confidence to win a feature race in my first year in this strong street stock division.”
It was an all-rookie podium in the DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock Division. Justin Cole finished 2nd and rookie point leader Luc MacLaughlin came home third. MacLaughlin won the other heat race.

Fredericton, NB- With just two point races remaining on the 2013 racing schedule, the action is going to heat up this weekend at Speedway 660. On Saturday at 7PM, drivers will go all out to improve their chances of claiming one of five divisional championships in the Geary Woods.
“We’ve seen some great racing this year, but the next two Saturday nights our drivers are really going to have to step up and give it their best shot if they want to win one of our 2013 titles” said Speedway 660’s Michelle Roy. “We have great championship point battles in all of our divisions and even the drivers who aren’t in contention for titles will be racing hard to move into or stay in the top five or top ten in the standings.”
Race fans will see action in the West Wood Estate Apartments Bandolero, Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter, DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock, Martins Home Heating Sportsman and RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock Divisions. The Mercer cousins pulled off their second straight Enduro win of the 2013 racing season at Speedway 660 on Sunday afternoon. Chuck and Clifford, racing out of the Norton area, topped the 21 car field to earn a trip to the Riverview Ford Lincoln Victory Lane.
“It was tough just trying to survive that final 50 laps out there today because things sure got pretty wild” said Cliff Mercer. “We had to work hard just to get our race car here today after we got beat up so bad in the first Enduro of the season.”
Brody Seveck finished second for the second straight Enduro, while Dale Gilbert drove to a third place finish. Seveck led the first 75 lap segment before the Mercer’s took the lead in the second segment.
“We had another pretty good run out here today and are happy to get another second place finish” said Brody Seveck. “The Mercer boys are tough, they’ve won two in a row and are the defending Enduro champs, but we’re gonna come back on SpeedWeekend to see if we can give them a battle for the 2013 championship.”

Fredericton N.B – Dave O’Blenis rolled to an impressive win in the Firecracker 150 at Speedway 660 on Saturday night. O’Blenis drove his Irving Blending & Packaging Sportsman car to the Riverview Ford Lincoln Victory Lane in one of the biggest Sportsman races of the year.
“I am proud of this race team because they worked hard to give me a great car tonight and I also want to congratulate Brent Roy and John Rankin for running me hard and clean in this race” said O’Blenis. “It was great to get the win tonight, especially after having a strong car in the Martins’ Home Heating 100 back in June and not winning that race after breaking the transmission.”
O’Blenis took the lead on lap 24 and although he led the rest of the race, he had to hold off strong challenges from Roy who finished second and Rankin who came home third. O’Blenis, Rankin and George Jamieson won the qualifying heats.
“I like these long races, we always seem to have good runs and usually have good finishes but we have never been able to close the deal and win one of these things” said Brent Roy, who finished third in the Martins Home Heating 100 back in June. “We’ve got a couple of important point races in the next two weeks, but we’re going to come back for the Irving Blending & Packaging Sportsman 100 on SpeedWeekend and try again.”
