The American-Canadian Tour Late Models return to the southernmost race track in New England, Connecticut’s Waterford Speedbowl, with Saturday’s Nutmeg State 100. In two previous appearances at the racy 3/8-mile, Brent Dragon and “Rocket” Roger Brown were the victors. Brown’s victory came in 2004, the last visit to the shoreline speedplant.

WATERFORD, CT – The American-Canadian Tour Championship Late Model stock cars return to the Connecticut shoreline on Saturday (June 7) with the running of the Nutmeg State 100 at Waterford Speedbowl. The racy 3/8-mile oval previously hosted ACT in 2003 and 2004, and has since adapted a rule book for its weekly Late Model division based on ACT specs.

MONTMAGNY, QC – The Série ACT Castrol championship Late Model stock car racing series is geared up for its second event of 2008, the Montmagny 100 at Autodrome Montmagny Speedway, east of Québec City, on Saturday, May 31 at 1:30pm. With each of the series’ three past champions running partial schedules this year, the championship chase is wide open. Leading contenders include Karl Allard, Steven Boissonneault, Jean-François Déry, Alexandre Gingras, and rookie Johnathan Urlin.

BARRE, VT – Veteran stock car driver Rick Garand of Middlesex, VT edged 17 year-old James Hebert of Williamstown, VT for his first NAPA Tiger Sportsman victory since 1995 at Barre, VT’s Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl on Sunday. Garand and Hebert raced inches apart over the final five laps for the win during the 46th Annual Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic.

BARRE, VT – American-Canadian Tour Late Model Championship stock car driver John Donahue of Graniteville, VT won the fastest race in series history at Barre, VT’s Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl on Sunday, taking the 46th Annual Mekkelsen RV Memorial
Day Classic in 28 minutes and 16 seconds. Donahue’s #26 National Guard Ford Fusion started fourth on the 30-car grid and came to life just before the halfway point. Donahue grabbed the lead after an outside pass of polesitter Eric Williams on lap 47, then survived the race’s lone restart on lap 70 to earn the win.

BARRE, VT – Stock car driver Fred Schroeder won a special two-segment feature race for the Power Shift Online Junkyard Warrior division at Barre, VT’s Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl on Saturday afternoon (May 24) to open the 46th Annual Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic weekend. Schroeder, of Bristol, VT, took his first career win over South Burlington, VT’s Mike Gay and Waterbury, VT’s Neal Foster.
