       BARRE, VT – Veteran Late Model stock car racer Dwayne Lanphear of Morrisville returned to Victory
Lane at Barre’s Thunder Road for the first time in six years with an impressive outside lane run in the 50-lap Kinney Drugs Trophy Dash on Thursday night.  Lanphear battled with Wolcott’s Marcel Gravel, Northfield rookie Chip Grenier, and Essex Junction veteran Dave Whitcomb throughout the event.

Scott, Becker Not Giving Up Thunder Road Title Fight

       BARRE, VT – Stock car drivers Phil Scott and Joey Becker are currently chasing a trio of tightly-grouped championship point leaders at Barre’s Thunder Road entering Thursday’s 50-lap Kinney Drugs trophy dash, the final Thursday night event on the Thunder Road schedule.  Veteran racer Scott is a three-time American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model “King of the Road” while Becker is a young up-and-comer, having won the Rookie of the Year title in 2003.

Kinney Drugs to Present Final Thursday Race, Kids Poster Contest at Thunder Road

       BARRE, VT – Kinney Drugs will present the final Thursday night stock car racing program of the summer at Barre’s Thunder Road this Thursday, August 23 at 6:30pm.  With only two championship events remaining for the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model division, the 2007 “King of the Road” title chase is the closest in Thunder Road’s storied 48-year history.

Actor Rusty DeWees to ?Scrawl? on New Books at Thunder Road

       BARRE, VT – Actor, musician, and new author Rusty DeWees of Elmore will hold a book signing at Barre’s Thunder Road as part of the Fisher/Federated Auto Parts stock car racing program on Tuesday, August 28.  No stranger to Thunder Road, DeWees – perhaps more commonly known by his stage name “The Logger” – will autograph copies of his soon-to-be-released book, Scrawlins.  During the early years of his wildly popular one-man show named after his character, DeWees was a weekly competitor in Thunder Road’s Allen Lumber Street Stock division.

Payea is First Repeat ACT Late Model Tour Winner

       NORTH WOODSTOCK, NH – Vermont stock car racer Scott Payea of Milton grabbed his second American-Canadian Tour (ACT) victory of the season and of his career in the Kancamaugus 100 at New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday night.  Payea led on two occasions, including the final 18 circuits after passing Turner, ME’s Ben Rowe.  With his win, Payea becomes the first multiple winner in nine ACT Late Model Tour events this year.

Scott Wins Wild Late Model Feature at Thunder Road

       BARRE, VT – Champion American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model stock car racer Phil Scott of
Middlesex drove from 17th to win the 50-lap Vermont ACE Hardware Dealers feature at Barre’s Thunder Road on Thursday night.  Scott, a three-time “King of the Road” nipped Marcel Gravel of Wolcott by a nose at the finish line in one of the wildest races of the season.
