BARRE, VT – Hometown stock car racer Nick Sweet has been a dominant force in the NAPA Auto Parts Tiger Sportsman division at Barre’s Thunder Road this summer, and has been making strides toward winning his first Track Championship at the historic 48 year-old speedway. Just a few weeks away from his 23rd birthday, Sweet is part of Thunder Road’s “new breed” of young, talented racers. Entering the next-to-last Thursday night event, the VT ACE Hardware Dealers Trophy Dash this Thursday, Sweet leads veteran East Montpelier racer Joey Laquerre by a comfortable margin in the Sportsman point standings, 801-692.

NORTH WOODSTOCK, NH – Six-time American-Canadian Tour (ACT) stock car racing champion Jean-Paul Cyr of Milton, VT is searching for his first main event victory of the 2007 season, and is a prime candidate for victory in the Kancamaugus 100 at New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday night. A four-time winner at the beautiful ¼-mile oval track, Cyr has been “oh-so-close” to the winner’s circle in nearly every race this season.

OXFORD, ME – Outlaw stock car racer Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, MA made his first American-Canadian Tour (ACT) main event start of the season a good one on Saturday night at Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway, taking his first career ACT Late Model Tour win in an exciting caution-free Time Warner Cable 100 that was completed in under 29 minutes.

OXFORD, ME – Parity has perhaps never been more prevalent in American-Canadian Tour (ACT) stock car racing than in 2007. After the first seven events of the ACT Late Model Tour championship schedule, no driver has been able to repeat as a race winner. In fact, four drivers have earned the first ACT victories of their careers in 2007, including Randy Potter of Groveton, NH.

BARRE, VT – Stock car racing fans at Barre’s Thunder Road will be put to the test on Thursday, as NAPA Auto Parts and Make-A-Wish present the return of “Run What You Brung” spectator races at “The Nation’s Site of Excitement.” Race fans will have the opportunity to steer the family “grocery-getter” on Thunder Road’s famous high banks in an elimination-style race, with the winner of each match-up advancing to the next round.
