WILLIAMSTON, SC (June 17) – Roger Lee Newton inherited the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model win after a wild finish, while John Smith played the right strategy for his first Southern Modified Racing Series (SMRS) win Friday night at Anderson Motor Speedway. For Newton, the Concord, NC veteran was in the right place when leaders Matt Craig and Dalton Sargeant made contact on the final lap to claim his third career PASS South Super Late Model victory.
“To be in this position after where we started today, we changed everything but the seat in this car,” said Newton afterwards. “Man, the crew worked their butts off today. I don’t give up on them and they don’t give up on me, it’s a team. The last four or five races has taken a lot of wind out of our sails and we were about to quit racing. I don’t like to win this way, but we will take them however we can get them.”

Barre, VT – Eric Badore of Milton held off a pair of challengers early, then pulled away late to claim his second care Late Model victory on Casella Waste Systems Night at Thunder Road. Badore also won his heat race and the semi-feature to earn the second Maplewood Triple Crown of his Late Model career.
Badore and pole-sitter Jason Allen of Barre waged a side-by-side battle at the front of the pack for the first 10 laps of the race. Eric Chase of Milton took over second after Allen spun out on lap 32 to bring out the second caution of the evening on lap 32. Chase led by a nose on the outside on the restart following the caution flag, but Badore regained the top spot and stayed in front for the rest of the way.
Phil Scott of Middlesex and Nick Sweet of Barre moved through the field together but couldn’t run down Badore. Scott finished second and Sweet third. Rounding out the top 10 were Scott Dragon, Cody Blake, Nick Sweet, Jason Corliss, Trampas Demers, Kyle Pembroke, and David Whitcomb.

CHARLOTTE, NC (June 16) – The best racers in the south will be busy this weekend as the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models will compete on back-to-back nights for the first time in series history this weekend. The PASS Carolina Doubleheader will see the South’s original Super Late Model tour compete for 125 laps on Friday night at Anderson Motor Speedway in South Carolina before moving across the border on Saturday night to Hickory Motor Speedway for the 10th Running of the Over The Mountain 150.
Hickory has a long and storied history, not just for stock car racing in general, but for PASS South as well. PASS set the standard for Super Late Model racing in the region when PASS South was launched at Hickory in 2006 with the inaugural running of the Easter Bunny 150. Since then, Hickory Motor Speedway has hosted the PASS South Super Late Models nearly 30 times, the most of any track on the schedule.
One driver hoping to score his first win in one of this weekend’s doubleheader events is Trey Jarrell. The young driver from Martinsville, VA has been impressive in a limited number of starts with PASS, but not any more than he was this past March at Hickory in the Easter Bunny 150. Jarrell traded the lead back-and-forth with eventual winner, Ben Rowe, showing that he has what it takes to win on one of short track racing’s biggest stages. Jarrell and the Mark Reedy racing team head into the weekend brimming with confidence that they can get their first PASS South win.

The Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) will return to the place where the series ran the inaugural race this Friday night, June 17.
The 1/3 mile Claremont Speedway located in Claremont, New Hampshire will be the site for the fourth GSPSS race of the season — the Twin State 100 — one that will pay $2,000 to the winner.
The first three of the season saw three different winners — Jacob Dore, Mike O’Sullivan & DJ Shaw — and there is no reason why a fourth different driver couldn’t sit in victory lane this Friday night.

Eddie MacDonald will face a stern test this weekend as he competes in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race at Stafford Motor Speedway in Connecticut on Friday night June 17, then will have to hustle to Speedway 51 in Groveton N.H. on Saturday morning to battle for the American Canadian Tour win that night. A few hundred miles separate the two venues but the preparation of two cars for the events has been demanding.
“We really have been working hard in the shop to get ready and I know everyone will breathe a little easier when this weekend is over,” said Eddie Mac. “We were in pretty good shape with our K&N car but when the ACT car got wrecked at Waterford, we had to essentially rebuild it once we got the car back from Dale (Shaw) so now the guys in the shop had to do double duty. Everyone really pitched in and I have to give huge thanks to everyone involved especially Joe St. Jacques for hanging the new body on Freddie’s (Peterson) car. The #17 EXIT Realty/Hancock Electric Chevy looks fantastic thanks to him. Sometimes good things happen unexpectedly and that is what happened with Joe. He just got laid off so he was at the shop early every day to get this done. Things have been hectic but we are ready for both races. This is our second K&N event this season and we are really looking forward to this race.”

Waterbury, VT – The “Outlaw”, Eddie MacDonald, Rowley, MA will use the quarter mile bull ring, Speedway 51, in Groveton, NH to regain his momentum toward a first American Canadian Tour (ACT) Championship on Saturday, June 18, 2016.
It has been uncharacteristic for Eddie MacDonald to move out of the lead when he is on top, whether in a race or points chase. The 2016 American Canadian Tour will reach the halfway point on Saturday, June 18 at Speedway 51. There have been five different race winners so far in the season: Bobby Therrien, Oxford Plains Speedway; Scott Payea, Lee USA; Nick Sweet, Thunder Road & Devil’s Bowl; Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. New London-Waterford; and Eddie MacDonald at Airborne. During this time the “Outlaw” has found himself in the race for a title in first, second (two times), third, fourth, and fifth. This is the closest points race in the long history of ACT. He has a low finish of 20th , a pair of eighth place finishes and a third, second and first.
Current point leader Nick Sweet said, “I went through my struggles at the beginning of the season and fell as far as tenth place in the points early. Lately, we have been getting things sorted out, but Eddie had some bad luck at Waterford with the last lap oil spill and wrecked his car. He and Rollie (Lachance) have always been very good at Speedway 51, so I think he is still the one to keep your eye on as we move forward. Unfortunately, there are also three or four others that are in the hunt and don’t forget that Wayne (three-time ACT Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr., Dover, NH), he is just now getting things rolling. It should be a great second half to the season,” said Sweet.
