Thunder Road Announces Tiger Triple 50 Features

troadBarre, VT – Thunder Road officials have announced special Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen triple 50 lap feature events during Jet Service Envelope – Accura Printing event at Thunder Road in Barre on Thursday, August 21. The Tiger 100 lap feature scheduled for last Thursday, August 7 was postponed due to rain and was rescheduled for the August 21 event.

Instead of running the 100 lapper followed by a regular event, the Tigers will now run three 50 lap features spread out throughout the evening and earn separate feature points and separate purses for each race. The field will be inverted after each event to set up the line-up for the next race.

Back to Back podium finishes puts Griffith within striking distance of GSPSS point leader

(Hudson, NH) – 17 year-old Derek Griffith is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with on the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS).

Griffith found himself on the podium again after finishing in second place at Monadnock Speedway on August 9th. Derek rolled off ninth in the nineteen car field and quickly moved towards the front. The car was consistent and the driver, even more so.
Derek talked about bringing the No. 12 Mom’s of Manchester/LCM Racing Toyota Camry to a second place finish, “We had such a good car here at Monadnock. I love this track and we know the exact set-up we need. I was a little worried after we suffered that flat, right front tire but it’s just another example of the team working so good.”

Nick Sweet Snags ACT Victory at Beech Ridge

Scarborough, ME – Barre’s Nick Sweet became the 7th different American Canadian Tour winner in the 7th event of the 2014 season when the tour visited Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, ME on Saturday, August 9. Sweet led for the majority of the event, but not without fierce contention and multiple lead changes with runner-up finisher Ben Ashline.

Ashline slipped out of the lead after starting on the pole with a plus five in ACT’s unique plus/minus handicap system. Outside pole sitter Stephane Descoste of Oka, Quebec led through the early stages of the event until Sweet took over on the 24th circuit. Sweet made the charge from his 8th place starting position and built a comfortable lead once he reached the point.

Griffith looking toward a championship run. Next stop, Monadnock Speedway.

Winchester, NH – 17 Year-old Pro Stock driver, Derek Griffith is returning to Monadnock Speedway on Saturday, August 9th and as the season winds down, Griffith has championship aspirations.

Derek is riding a wave of three straight top-5 finishes and is looking to rebound from a 17th place finish is last year’s version of the JBH Memorial race.
“Last year we didn’t run very well, we came away with a disappointing finish. If you fast forward to this year though, our team is much stronger; I’m a much better driver and I think the results reflect that.” stated Griffith.

Larsen Scores First Tour Victory At Inaugural NHMS Event

NEMST1History was made multiple times in central New Hampshire Sunday for the Texas Roadhouse North East Mini Stock Tour presented by Twisted Tea.  The largest starting field ever for the young series assembled in the infield of New Hampshire Motor Speedway over the course of the weekend. As cars arrived they went through a vigorous safety inspection to make sure the cars were prepared for the up to 130 MPH speeds they were going to run.
Sunday morning the cars rolled from pit road and began to pace around the one mile NASCAR oval housed within the NHMS facility. After 3-4 pace laps the cars were allowed to turn up the speed and start laying down fast laps. During the 30 minute practice session multiple cars pit to make adjustments and go back out to try again. The cars were running an average speed of 110 MPH around the 12* banked track.
