Quebec’s Larue Brothers Accept Prestigious MacTavish Award
Burlington, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) held its annual Banquet of Champions at the Doubletree Inn in Burlington, VT on Saturday, January 11. ACT honored its 2013 champions and top ten competitors from the Northeastern U.S.-based ACT Late Model Tour and the Quebec-based Série ACT. ACT Late Model competitors from across the region battled in point counting and special events for their share of over $900,000 in purses and point funds during 2013.
Wayne Helliwell, Jr. of Dover, NH and car owner Bruce Bernhardt earned their second straight ACT Late Model Tour title in 2013. Helliwell defended his 2012 title with two feature wins and another ACT Championship. He and his team narrowly avoided disaster in the final event of the season and hung on to their slim lead to earn the title. Helliwell and Bernhardt also claimed the Ford Blue Oval Cup title for the fourth straight season.

CHARLOTTE, NC (January 10) – Early entries are starting to flow in to the Naples, ME offices of the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) for the upcoming Florida Winter Meltdown on February 7-8 at New Smyrna Speedway. PASS will help kick off Florida’s annual Speedweeks festivities at New Smyrna Speedway with the Winter Meltdown serving as the season opener for both the PASS South Super Late Models and PASS National Series.
The early entries are highlighted by champions from New England, the Southeast and the Midwest. Defending PASS North Super Late Model champion Cassius Clark of Farmington, ME was among the first to file an entry for this year’s 125 lap Winter Meltdown at New Smyrna. In addition to his PASS North title in 2013, Clark was the inaugural champion of the PASS National Series back in 2008. The Hight Motorsports #77 driven by Clark was not only consistent, but fast, winning two races en route to the championship last year and will no doubt give Northeastern fans something to cheer about in Florida.

PASS President Tom Mayberry is pleased to announce a brand new series for Late Models which will be unveiled at Oxford Plains Speedway in 2014. The division will race three times this season at OPS with the possibility of a full fledged Late Model Series developing in 2015.
Mayberry explains, “The timing is right for a new Late Model Series to be developed and implemented on a test basis in 2014. There are tons of Late Models just sitting idle, and several other tracks, and series cars will be able to participate as well. We have developed a universal set of rules that will just about encompass any racecars with just minimal changes. We will be debuting the PASS Northeast Late Model Series at Oxford on Friday, June 13, 2014 with a 100 lap, $2,000 to win main event. Round number two will take place on the Saturday of the Oxford 250 weekend, July 19th. This race will feature a 125 lap main event paying $4,000 to win, or $3,000 and a guaranteed provisional for the Oxford 250 on Sunday. The final event of the Series will take place on the PASS Championship Weekend at OPS, which is slated for September 26th and 27th. This race will also feature a $2,000 to win, 100 lap main event. We are all excited about launching the PASS Northeast Late Model Series, and have a very good feeling that this Series will be very successful. The Late Model Series will carry the PASS banner in 2014. If the initial endeavor is successful than we will look to expand the Series in 2015.”

CHARLOTTE, NC (January 9) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials announced today that the Ford McGunegill crate engine will be legal for competition in the PASS Pro Late Model division in 2014. Cars using a 4412 carburetor must weigh 2950 pounds and those using the 350 cfm. 2 barrel holley HP carburetor must weigh 2925 pounds.
“We tested this configuration for the Ford McGunegill crate engine at Southern National in November and we were pleased with the results,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “We’ve had a lot of interest from teams that have the Ford McGunegill crate and we feel that this will only add to the great competition we saw last year out of the PASS Pro Late Models.”

Hudson, NH. – Derek Griffith, the talented 16 year-old has his sights set on contending for wins in 2014; coming off a year in which the native of Hudson, New Hampshire competed part-time. Griffith will be upping his race schedule this year to include his first attempt at qualifying for the prestigious Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine in July, 2014
Griffith will kick off his busy 2014 by competing full-time in pursuit of the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) crown and will race select Pro All Star Series (PASS) events, as of right now Derek will start his year off by visiting Thompson Speedway in Thompson, CT to compete in the season opening race for the GSPSS during the ‘Ice Breaker’ event slated for April 13, 2014

NAPLES, ME (December 13) – The Pro All Stars Series (PASS), in association with series supporter Northern Race Tire, will be presenting a unique set of awards to the each of the division’s Super Late Model Champions. The 2013 PASS National, PASS North, and PASS South Super Late Model Champions will each be presented with diamond encrusted championship rings in recognition of their hard work during the racing season. In addition, the PASS Pro Late Model, PASS Modified, and PASS Sportsman champions will also receive championship rings, similar in design, but unique to honor their championship seasons.
The PASS Champions’ rings are manufactured and designed by Stylecraft.
