The ‘one’ is this weekend’s 39th annual TD Bank Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine. Practice takes place on Saturday and Sunday, with qualifying and the main event slated for Sunday afternoon and evening, respectively. Hoar’s best finish in the event was a runner-up effort in the 2010 TD Bank 250.

Two years ago, Austin Theriault showed up as a 16-year-old rookie with only a handful of ACT Late Model Tour starts under his belt. Last summer, he opened eyes when he became the youngest podium finisher in the history of the biggest one-day stock car race in the northeast.

This Sunday, Theriault and his No. 57 Pelletier Ford Ford Fusion team head to Oxford Plains Speedway for the 39th annual TD Bank Oxford 250 on a short-list of favorites to capture the premier Late Model event in the country.

Fisher, Theetge First Entries to 50th Milk Bowl

Barre, VT – Former Thunder Road Champion Jamie Fisher, and two-time Serie ACT Castrol Champion Donald Theetge were the first to file entries for the 50th Annual People’s United Bank Milk Bowl on Sunday, September 30 at Barre’s Thunder Road.

Fisher filed within 30 minutes of receiving his entry form last Thursday. “This may be the biggest Milk Bowl we ever run for, so I didn’t want to waste any time,” said Fisher. “We’ve finally got the car going great again this year, I think we’ve got a real shot,” he finished.

PASS Super Late Models, Mods on Oxford Plains docket this weekend.

NAPLES ME (7/17) Two Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North touring series are preparing for their first Oxford (ME) Plains Speedway appearance of 2012 as the racing extravaganza that is TD Bank Oxford 250 weekend approaches.

The PASS Mods highlight Friday night’s action, presented by the Sun Journal. Many of the PASS Mod competitors learned their trade in Oxford’s weekly racing series. Andy Shaw, Dale Shaw and Alan Wilson were once regulars at the Route 26 oval and Wilson was victorious in the 2011 edition. The Mods will battle for 40 green flag laps on a card that includes the Oxford Championship Series (no Late Models), the Oxford Acceleration series and a happy hour practice session for the PASS North Super Late Models. Friday evening July 20 the racing goes green at 6:30 PM.

Thunder Road Straps In for Double Points Night

Competitors Brace for Critical Championship Event

Barre, VT – Championship hopes come to a crossroad this Thursday night (July 19) for The Times Argus Midseason Championship event at Barre’s Thunder Road. Double points will be on the line for all divisions, leaving no room for error in tight point battles across the board.

In 2011, struggling former champion Dave Pembroke took the checkers at The Times Argus Midseason Championships and, with another win the previous week, amassed enough points in seven days to pull into contention. Pembroke rocketed from mid pack to the point lead, and held on to claim the Late Model Championship. He currently rides second in weekly points.

Eddie MacDonald Sixth at CNB Raceway Park

Eddie MacDonald and the Grimm Racing Team began the second half of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East 14 race season with a sixth place finish in the Samuel 150 at CNB Bank Raceway Park in Clearfield, Pa.

The Grimm Construction Chevy started 13th in the field after running sixth and fourteenth in the first and second practice sessions respectively with MacDonald saying, “We drew the number one position for qualifying and that is always tough but I knew we had a good handling, fast car that would be there at the end and it was. The car was very good in practice and we were looking forward to the race. We planned to go out there and take what we could the first half of the race and then go for it in the second half.”
