Waterbury, VT – It has taken the better part of the Thunder Road season to get the top dogs positioned to take advantage of the Times Argus Mid-Season Championship double point extra-distance race coming up Thursday, July 14, 2011. Including the American Canadian Tour Merchants Bank opener, there have been eight races with seven (7) different winners in the competitive Late Model division.
There are just 79 points separating the top ten. The Times Argus Mid-Season Championship awards 150 points to the winner. The most recent winner, Dave Pembroke, from Montpelier, VT, is a former Thunder Road champion and he vaulted his team into contention last Thursday, going from eleventh in the standings to third by winning the Charter Communication main event. The Vermont State Employees Credit Union/ Lamoille Valley Ford team is just 45 points out of the lead heading to the mid-season battle on Thursday, July 14th.

ACT TEAMS READY FOR – “Short Track Style on the Magic Mile”

Waterbury, VT – The biggest race in the 27-year history of the American Canadian Tour (ACT), on the biggest stage in northeast motorsports–the New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS), is just a month away. Over 70 teams from throughout the Northeast and eastern Canada have already entered the $120,000.00 event.
“This is going to be the most unique stock car race ever run at the NHMS. It is designed to be “short track style on the Magic Mile”, said Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour.

Barre, VT – Montpelier’s Dave Pembroke earned his first Late Model feature win of the season at Thunder Road International Speedbowl during the Charter Communications night on Thursday, July 7. Pembroke put on a dominate performance coming from the seventh starting position and racing by leader Brett Wheeler.
Scott Payea and Brooks Clark also raced by Wheeler to claim podium finishes, while Joey Becker claimed fifth on Wheeler’s bumper. Veteran Jamie Aube took sixth, while Phil Scott and John Donahue raced from deep in the field to take seventh and eighth respectively. Jamie Fisher and Derek Ming completed the top ten.

THE STORY
Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, returns to PASS North Series competition this weekend when the series heads to the Southern Maine Motors 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, July 9. Doiron, the 2010 PASS Rookie of the Year, has scaled back to a part-time effort in the series after some bad luck early in the going. He heads to his home track at Beech Ridge this weekend, where he also has competed several times this season in the track’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Pro Series division.

Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Race Preview
THE STORY
Mulkern Racing will field a two-car effort as the PASS North Series heads back to its hub for the Southern Maine Motors 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, July 9. Full-time driver Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, New Brunswick, will pilot his usual No. 48 A.E. McKay Builders Chevrolet, while team owner Scott Mulkern will make his second start of the season in the No. 84 Southern Maine Motors Chevrolet. Sommerville is coming off a Top-5 finish at Canaan Fair Speedway last weekend and hopes to improve on his fourth-place run in the season opener at Beech Ridge back in April. The race marks the beginning of a trying stretch for PASS North teams – it’s the first of two races in four days and four races in two weeks.
