EPPING, N.H. – Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, finished 10th in the PASS North Series Star 150 at Star Speedway in Epping, N.H., on Saturday, May 14. It was Doiron’s first Top-10 of the season, but came in an unconventional fashion – after sitting in the second on the final restart of the race, he ended up with a wrecked race car along the frontstretch wall after contact with another car racing to the checkered flag. Doiron started third for his best start of the season and raced inside the Top-10 during the entire caution-filled event.

Lonnie Sommerville Finishes 4th In Star 150

EPPING, N.H. – Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, New Brunswick, finished fourth in the PASS North Series Star 150 at Star Speedway in Epping, N.H., on Saturday, May 14. It was Sommerville’s second fourth-place finish in as many starts this season. Sommerville started eighth in the 22-car field, but an early domino-effect spin set him back to shotgun on the field. He rallied back to the Top-10 by Lap 100 and was sitting on the outside pole on the first of several green-white-checkered restarts. After a couple of leaders got together, he was forced to settle for the fourth-place finish.

POSTPONED – ACT Race at Oxford Plains Speedway moved to June 4

OXFORD, Maine – The American Canadian Tour event at Oxford Plains Speedway scheduled for Sunday, May 15 has been postponed until June 4.

“The forecast is for a 100% chance of rain tomorrow. We know we have teams and fans traveling great distances for this event and did not want them to do it in vain,” announced Oxford Plains Speedway Owner Bill Ryan.

ACT CASTROL SERIES READY TO OPEN AT CHAUDIERE

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) will open the 5th season of championship stock car racing for the Série ACT Castrol on Saturday, May 21. The popular series will begin the 2011 season at Autodrome Chaudiere in the Beauce Region of Quebec, just east of Quebec City.

This will be the first time the Series has opened its season at the Vallee Junction, QC bullring, which has become a favorite of Castrol Series teams. There are always huge supportive crowds, and traditionally some of the most exciting racing on the Series. It is the home of the ACT Showdown of Champions, a special 200-lap race between the best of the Castrol teams and the best of the US teams, at the end of each season paying $5,000 to win with $40,000 in overall purse and prize money to the top eleven (11) competitors from the ACT Castrol Serie and ACT US regulars.

Well the 2011 PASS racing season has started and Johnny Clark has picked up right were he left off last season, leading the points in the PASS North Series, as he took the checkered flag at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. I asked Johnny about the last 5 laps of the race this is what he had to say, “The last 5 laps was just riding with a decent lead, fingers crossed that we had no more cautions, because the 7 car (Donnie Whitten) was coming!”

THE STORY

Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, looks to bounce back as the ACT Late Model Tour competes in The Big Jab 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, on Sunday, May 15. Theriault failed to qualify for the Tour’s most recent event at Thunder Road International Speedbowl earlier this month after finishing an impressive seventh in his RPM Motorsports debut at Lee USA Speedway. Theriault made his ACT debut as a 15-year-old at Oxford in October of 2009, and last season he led 29 laps in this very event.
