Oktoberfest up next for the GSPSS at Lee USA Speedway
As the 2019 Granite State Pro Stock Series season winds down, the series takes part in one of the most anticipated events of the year. The two day Oktoberfest at Lee USA Speedway has become a destination event for New England race fans and teams alike.
The last three Lee events for the GSPSS have been dominated by two drivers from just up the road in Maine. They are friends, competitors, rivals and coworkers, as both drivers work at JBJ Machine in North Berwick Maine. The machine shop, owned by John Doiron, not only employs both drivers but makes numerous parts for race cars driven throughout New England.
Therrien Leaves No Doubt on Way to Vermont Milk Bowl Win
Barre, VT – Hinesburg’s Bobby Therrien was nearly unstoppable on his way to victory in the 57th Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank at Barre’s Thunder Road on Sunday, September 29. The 2017 “King of the Road” bounced back from a heartbreaking runner-up finish in the 2018 edition of the historic event by winning it from the pole with an overall score of eight points.
Angelo Belsito defended his home track in dominant fashion going three for three in the 2019 D.A.V. Fall Classic. On a perfect day for racing, the Auburn MA driver was virtually just that in scoring his first D.A.V. as well as his first GSPSS victory.
The afternoon’s competition kicked off with the Crazy Horse Racing race for the pole and It was Belsito going out in the last group and jumping to the top of the board. Belsitos time of 12.377 seconds would give him the pole for the first of three heat races.
Barre, VT – Hinesburg’s Bobby Therrien will lead the field to the green flag in the 57th Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank on Sunday, September 29. Therrien posted a fast lap of 12.379 seconds around Thunder Road’s high banks to bag the $1,000 Pole Award on Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Qualifying Day.
The 2017 “King of the Road” was actually initially the second-fastest driver on the track for the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models. However, provisional polesitter Trampas Demer’s time was disallowed after his car was found to be too wide in post-time trial technical inspection. The disqualification also moved Essex Jct.’s Matthew Smith onto the outside pole after a surprising effort of 12.389 seconds.
ATLANTIC OLIVER TIRE 200 SET TO CLOSE OUT 2019 PRO STOCK TOUR SEASON
(Halifax, NS – September 25, 2019) The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will close out another sensational season this Saturday at Scotia Speedworld with the Atlantic Oliver Tire 200. After 11 events in four cities it all comes down to the final 200 laps to decide who will be crowned the 2019 Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Champion – and who will cash the $10,000.00 champions cheque! Championship action gets underway 4:00pm with Atlantic Tiltload heat races. Grandstand gates will open at 1:00 PM.
Seekonk Ma. – For the first time ever, the D. Anthony Vandetti Fall Classic at Seekonk Speedway will be a Granite State Pro Stock Series sanctioned event. This annual year-end race has been held since 1992 and features Pro Stocks headlining what is sure to be a fantastic afternoon of racing.
As race day approaches, excitement is building for both Seekonk regulars as well as GSPSS teams and staff. Series president Mike Parks stated, “We are honored to have been asked to be a part of this great event. We look forward to teaming up with the staff and teams from this historic race track and put on a great show”.
