SOUTH BOSTON, VA (May 11) – Ross Kenseth took the lead from Trey Mitchell on what proved to be the final restart of the night and was up front when it counted to win the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model event at Virginia’s South Boston Speedway. In a race plagued by a constant threat of rain, Kenseth’s third career PASS South Super Late Model victory came when the event was finally halted eight laps short of the finish due to a brief shower. CHARLOTTE, NC (May 8) – Racing has long been a sport that families have enjoyed together. Maine’s racing Rowes, Mike and Ben, have seen countless checkered flags in their time competing together in the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North and South Super Late Model divisions, winning a combined 7 championships between the two of them.
This year, another famous short track dad is passing the torch to his son as the PASS South Super Late Models prepare for this weekend’s 150 lapper at the South Boston Speedway in Virginia. Jay Fogleman has been one of the top names in short track racing since beginning his career at bullrings like South Boston over 25 years ago. His success has continued in PASS South, racing with the series since 2008 and winning the 2012 PASS National Championship. Despite admittedly being in the twilight of his long career, Jay Fogleman currently leads the PASS South Super Late Model points standings on the strength of winning the most recent event in the series at Southern National Raceway Park back in April. PASS North Series: Reid Lanpher Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Race Report
SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Reid Lanpher of Manchester, Maine, finished 23rd in the PASS North Series Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, May 4. Lanpher became the youngest driver ever to qualify for a PASS North Series race at Beech Ridge and the youngest driver ever to lead laps in a series event. The 14-year-old JR Motorsports development driver won his first-round qualifying heat race and started third in the 28-car field. He took the lead on Lap 5 and held it until a restart on Lap 36, after which he suffered a flat right rear tire and was forced to pit. While working back up through traffic, he was involved in an incident on the backstretch and ended up with a hard hit into the Turn 3 wall which ended his day on Lap 120. (more…)
Scarborough, ME – For the second time in as many races, Joey Doiron and the #73 Wild Willy’s Burgers race team dominated the Pro All Stars Series North “Southern Maine Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge 150” event at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway and finished in the runner up position. This time however, it was behind his Dale Shaw Racecars teammate and good friend, DJ Shaw.
Starting from the second spot in the first heat race, Doiron cruised to the heat win, putting him on the pole position for the 150 lap feature. From the start, Doiron never fell further than the second position, and lead most of the event. During the races final stages, a series of cautions slowed the field down to set up a dash for the finish, with Doiron and Shaw on the front row for the race’s final two restarts. The two friends drove each other hard, swapping paint a few times and putting on another great race for the fans. When the dust settled, Doiron went home with the second place trophy. (more…)
