Kyle Grissom Charges For PASS South Bash At The Beach Win At Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (March 16) – Defending PASS South Champion Kyle Grissom charged from 12th after a lap 100 competition caution to the lead in just nine laps and held on to win the the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model Bash At The Beach 150 at Myrtle Beach Speedway.  The win was Grissom’s sixth in his PASS South Super Late Model career.

“That first half we tried to save our tires as best we could and the left rear just wore out really bad.  We made an adjustment at the break and as soon as we got back going, I knew that saving the tires wasn’t going to do anything for us,” said Grissom.  “All I was trying to do was get to the lead and fall back from there to conserve.  To finally win a race here at Myrtle Beach in a Super Late Model with PASS and beat all of those guys…it’s a really good night.”

Last week’s winner at Dillon and current PASS South points leader Austin Theriault employed a similar strategy to Grissom, falling back in the early going to outside the top 15.  But, by lap 100, Theriault brought Brad Keselowski’s Checkered Flag Foundation Ford back up to 8th and in sight of the leaders.  Both he and Grissom stormed to the front at the drop of the green flag and were mired in heavy lapped traffic in the final five laps.  Theriault closed to within five car lengths of Grissom, but could not make an advance on the race leader and ultimately came home in second. MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, posted his second consecutive podium finish in PASS South Series competition, finishing second in the inaugural Bash At The Beach 150 at Myrtle Beach Speedway in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Saturday, March 16. Theriault, who won the season-opening South Carolina Clash at Dillon Motor Speedway a week earlier, qualified third in the Brad Keselowski Racing No. 29 Checkered Flag Foundation Ford Fusion. He started 10 after the Top-10 qualifiers redrew for starting position, and after patiently riding around inside the Top-15 for the first 100-lap segment of the event, Theriault made his charge toward the front following a two-tire pit stop with 50 laps remaining. Theriault closed the gap to eventual winner Kyle Grissom in the closing laps of the race but simply ran out of time and track position by the time the checkered flag flew. (more…)

FORT KENT, Maine – Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, looks to make it two wins in a row in PASS South Series competition in the Bash At The Beach 150 at Myrtle Beach Speedway in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Saturday, March 16. The driver of the Brad Keselowski Racing No. 29 Checkered Flag Foundation Ford Fusion won the PASS South opener last weekend for his second straight win in PASS-sanctioned competition and his first win in the BKR development program. Now in his second full season with the organization owned by 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski, Theriault tested at Myrtle Beach recently and hopes to make a return trip to Victory Lane in the inaugural PASS event at the .538-mile seaside facility. Theriault Nips Peltier For History Making Win In PASS South Opener at Dillon

DILLON, SC (March 9) – Austin Theriault led less than a hundred feet to edge out former Pro All Stars Series (PASS) National Champion Preston Peltier in a photo finish to win the 8th Annual South Carolina Clash 150 at Dillon Motor Speedway.  Theriault’s .120 second margin of victory in the PASS South season opener was the closest margin in series history.  Theriault and Peltier made contact coming out of turn four racing to the checkered flag as they both maneuvered to pass the lapped machine of John Hunter Nemechek with Theriault just having enough to eke out the victory.

“I didn’t think I had anything for him [Peltier], but that lapped car gave me an opportunity there and I took it,” said Theriault, making only his second career PASS South Super Late Model start. “I hate that it came down to that, but I felt like I had the inside there down on the apron.  I went there and hoped that it stuck and luckily we had the lapped car there.  It hasn’t quite hit me yet, but we’re on a roll and I think we’re gonna have a great season.” (more…)

Austin Theriault BKR Development Driver Makes Last-Lap Pass For Dillon Victory

austin theriault dillon VLDILLON, South Carolina – Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, took the lead in the final corner of the final lap en route to victory in the PASS South Series season-opening South Carolina Clash 150 at Dillon Motor Speedway in Dillon, S.C., on Saturday, March 9. The Brad Keselowski Development driver battled door-to-door with Preston Peltier over the final few yards to win the drag race to the checkered flag.

The victory was the first for Theriault with Brad Keselowski Racing and his second consecutive victory in PASS-sanctioned competition after winning the 2012 PASS North Series season finale at Oxford Plains Speedway last October in a family-owned car.
