Scarborough, ME- Saturday’s NASCAR Nite Pro Series 40-lap feature event was won by veteran Mike Rowe, of Turner.
At the drop of the green, Jeff Fagan, of Waltham, MA, paced the 19-car field to the green flag and led the race until a caution on lap two bunched the 19-car field back together. On the restart, Saco’s Steve Carrier gained an advantage going into the corner and safely passed Fagan for the lead.
Carrier led until a caution flew at the halfway mark. The caution was helpful for Rowe who started 12th and worked his way into the top three by lap 20.
On the restart, Carrier chose the outside lane, which was unsuccessful as Rowe was able to maneuver his way by him for the lead from the inside rail. Rowe then opened up a multiple car length advantage and never looked back. He led the remaining 15 laps on his way to his second victory of the season.

NAPLES, ME (July 16) – Ever since the first TD Bank 250 was held at Oxford Plains Speedway in 1974, it has attracted not only the best short track racers from New England, but from across North America. In that first event won by Joey Kourafas, the precedent was set that short track racing’s best would assemble at Oxford for the 250. In addition to the talented group of drivers from New England in the field that day, Southern aces Bosco Lowe and 1963 Daytona 500 winner Tiny Lund competed along with a strong group of Canadian drivers led by Jean Paul Cabana. In fact, the early years of the TD Bank 250 were dominated by Southern drivers such as Butch Lindley, Bob Pressley, and Tommy Ellis. The first Canadian to taste TD Bank 250 glory was Don Biederman in 1977.

Saturday’s NASCAR Nite Pro Series 40-lap feature event was won by Charlie Colby of Newcastle.
At the drop of the green, Saco’s Keith McKinnon paced the 18-car field to the green flag and led the first lap, but was overtaken by Sulo Burbank, of Gorham. Burbank led until lap five when Colby was able to gain momentum and pass Burbank for the lead in a three-wide scramble down the frontstrech.

By the halfway mark, current point leader Dan McKeage, of Gorham, was able to place himself inside the top five after starting from his 17th starting spot. After starting in the last starting spot, last week’s winner Tyler King of Livermore Falls was able to carry his momentum over to this week and place himself in the top-ten midway through the race.
