Mulkern Racing Driver Finishes 3rd In NASCAR Race At Beech Ridge
After late nights, long hours in the shop and a lengthy list of unknowns heading into the weekend, Bobby Timmons turned in a career-best effort on Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.
Timmons, of Windham, finished third in the 40-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Pro Series feature at the track for his best career finish in a Super Late Model. The 19-year-old Pro Series rookie was all smiles just one week after retiring early from a 100-lap event due to an off-track excursion that left the Mulkern Racing No. 48 Southern Maine Motors/Timmons Machine & Fabrication Chevrolet with extensive suspension damage. Lee, NH – With threatening weather quickly moving into the area on Friday night, Lee USA Speedway track officials were in hurry-up mode from the drop of the first green flag, and entire program of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing presented by Mobil 1 went into the record books well before the rains came.
2010 champion and current points leader Tommy Tombarello, Jr. lined up eighth for the 30-lap Benson Lumber and Hardware Small Block Supermodified feature event, but he quickly worked his way through the field and took the lead from polesitter Tony Carroll, who had set the early pace while Tombarello worked traffic. This week we start the show off with Beech Ridge, then we travel to Star Speedway in Epping, NH… then we head up to SPUD Speedway. Needless to say, we racked some miles up.
Mulkern Racing Fields Pro Series Entry For Windham Driver
He’s already been behind the wheel of a race car for most of his life, but this season Bobby Timmons enters a brave new world.
Timmons, 19, of Windham, will compete full-time in the Pro Series division for Super Late Models at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in the Mulkern Racing No. 48 SouthernMaineMotors.com/Timmons Builders Chevrolet. Beech Ridge opens its NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season this Saturday night, May 26, at 6:30 p.m.
Though he made four starts in the Super Late Model at the tail end of the 2011 season, the bulk of Timmons’ racing resume is comprised of starts in a NELCAR Legends car and go-karts at Beech Ridge. This is his first full season in a full-size stock car, and his goals are appropriately modest. (more…)
The Benjamin Motorsports team started the 2012 season at Beech Ridge this past Saturday. After practice was cancelled on Friday, that kinda put the team a little behind the eight ball but after practice on Saturday morning the team was confident that they could have a good race.
