Polewarczyk, Jr. Favorite to Win ACT 150 at Beech Ridge

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) will next appear at the Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, ME on Saturday, August 9. The Hudson, New Hampshire native, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. (Pole) has to be considered a favorite to win the race. In the 2014 ACT Championship standings Pole has a comfortable 56 point lead over second place racer Jimmy Hebert, from Williamstown, VT. He is also winless so far during the 2014 campaign.

 

Pole has compiled an impressive record during the first half of the 2014 season. In the ACT races to date, the 97NH team has three second place finishes, two third place finishes and two fourth place finishes. He also led the Pro All Star Super Late Model event at Beech Ridge and contended for wins in the Star and White Mountain events he entered this year, and also recently won the Lee USA Granite State Pro Stock race. Pole won the 150 lap Beech Ridge ACT event in 2010; he was runner up to Eddie MacDonald from Rowley, MA in 2013.

After taking a week of from feature racing, Oakland’s Mike Landry paced the 20-car field to the green flag. Landry led until lap four when rookie Mike Fowler, of Scarborough, was able to claim the lead from Landry with ease. Fowler who was fast in qualifying, opened up a multiple car-length lead over Landry and the entire field.

EMMA LIBBY CAPTURES CAREER FIRST SPORTSMAN WIN AT 95

Sixteen year old Emma Libby of Glenburn led the first 13 laps of the 25 lap Darling’s Ford Sportsman feature at Speedway 95 Saturday night, but lost it to points leader Kris Matchett of Skowhegan on a lap 14 restart. As Matchett pulled away from the teen driver, Libby held on to the second spot until Matchett unexpectedly slowed on the 23rd lap. Libby was able to overtake him and cruise to her first win as a rookie in the division. Dean Clements of Brooks, making his first appearance since an early season wreck sidelined his activity, took second with Jay Robichaud of Eddington, also returning after several weeks away following an accident that seriously damaged his car, finished third. Fourth went to pole sitter Karl Stanhope of Hampden with Matchett limping home in fifth with a sick engine. Matchett won the division’s single qualifying race.

SAM BETTS TOPS WACKY WEDNESDAY MODIFIED ENDUROS

Sam Betts of Brewer won his first feature race of the season in the Modified 4/6/8 cylinder class at Speedway 95 on Friday night when the make-up race from a July 2 rain out was run. Betts started on the outside pole for the 20 lap event and took the lead from Bangor’s Scott Bonny on the second lap. Betts led the way to the checkers, finishing ahead of Hermon’s Andrew Crosby, who finished second and last week’s winner, Travis Beale of Hampden, who came from an eleventh place start to finish third. Fourth went to Hermon’s Rhonda Crain, a past champion in the former Ladies Division, and Brownville’s Dustin Lancaster was fifth. The race went the full 20 laps without a caution.
