Nick Jenkins of Brownville Maine, is making the shift this season from racing late models to super late models in the Pro All Stars Series (PASS). “In 2014 I will be racing PASS North for Maine Glass Eels and Frame-Co Racing! I look forward to being a teammate to Martin Latulippe and Seth Holbrook Motorsports. This should be a very exciting season for sure!”

Over the winter Nick has been keeping busy working, “I have been working at my business Statewide Spray Foam Insulation and preparing for the 2014 racing season.”

WISCASSET SPEEDWAY DRIVER PROFILE: KEVIN SHERMAN #11

Kevin Sherman comes from a line of race car drivers who lived close to the Wiscasset Speedway. Sherman lived just seven miles from the track, and he was introduced to the sport at a young age. Both of Sherman’s grandfathers’ (Ken Sherman and Merle Grover) and father (Norm Sherman) were drivers at Wiscasset. Sherman’s cousin, Adam Chadbourne also races at Wiscasset. It is a family tradition.

Kevin Sherman recalled that both of his grandfathers and his father “were very good back in the day. For me, it was a matter of just waiting until I could drive.”

Kevin has raced in many divisions at Wiscasset Speedway. His debut season at Wiscasset was in 2004 in the Lightweight B Demons. That year he had fifteen top five finishes and nine feature wins. Sherman earned the The Light B Championship and had Rookie of the Year honors.

Spuds 43 Gage

Gage Theriault of Limestone, Maine the driver of the #43 KID KART at Spud Speedway, won the championship last season is looking for another championship. Though in the off season gage has been keeping busy, practicing for next year and watching his favorite dvd of all time, Days of Thunder! Gage also loves to watch YouTube videos of racing, for research purposes. Gage already in the race mode staying up way past his bedtime to watch Dale Jr. win the Daytona 500 including the 5 hour rain delay.

Looking back on the 2013 race season the one thing Gage remembers most was, “The highlight of his 2013 racing season was every time he was able to hit the track!

Evan Beaulieu Competing in DT 100 for Make A Wish

IMG_0330-1024x682Durham, ME – Evan Beaulieu will be back behind the wheel this weekend at one of the biggest single day fundraising events in all of Motorsports, the DT 100 for Make-A-Wish.  The event is held annually at Maine Indoor Karting in Scarborough, Maine and brings in over 100 of the best short track drivers representing 11 states.  The event has risen over $94,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in just five events.  Beaulieu is looking forward to making his first start in the race.

 

“It’s going to be a lot of fun to race with all these guys, these are some of the best drivers in racing and we all get to go have fun at the local kart track, and it’s all to help a great cause,” Beaulieu said of the event, “While we are there to raise money for Make-A-Wish, we are all still competitors and want to win, it’s just for bragging rights.”

ENTRIES POURING IN FOR OXFORD 250

ENTRIES POURING IN FOR OXFORD 250Advanced Oxford 250 entries are pouring in to the PASS North headquarters in Naples, Maine, and the entry list is certainly going to be a who’s who in Super Late Model racing from throughout the Northeast, Southeast and Canada.

Northern driver, Tim Brackett from Buckfield, Maine filed the first entry earlier this month, and since then entries have been coming in almost daily. 2013 PASS North champion Cassius Clark has filed entry for the Hight Chevrolet team. Former multi-time PASS champion, Johnny Clark, along with 2012 PASS North champ, Travis Benjamin have sent in their entries. 2013 PASS North runner-up Joey Doiron is entered as well as Turner, Maine’s Glen Luce. Other PASS notables include David Oliver and Reid Lanpher.

Oxford Plains Speedway is well represented with early entries as Shane Green, Chris Coolidge, Mark Lundblad Jr., Justin Gibbons, and Adam Polivinen have all thrown their hats into the ring.
