Brian Hoar Beech Ridge Race Report

Eight-time ACT Late Model Tour champion Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., finished fifth in the rain-shortened ACT 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, July 28. The race was halted after 112 of the scheduled 150 laps by rain, shortly after Hoar used a three-wide move on a Lap 110 restart to move into the Top-5 for the first time. Hoar started 11th in the 30-car field and was beginning to work around the fourth-place car when the rains finally came. It was the fourth-straight Top-6 finish for the RPM Motorsports No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge Charger at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Hoar began his night by winning the first of four ACT qualifying races from the outside pole.

Laperle Shines at Autodrome St-Eustache

Dery, Allard Charge to Podium Finishes

St-Eustache, QC – Defending Serie ACT Castrol Champion Patrick Laperle surged for his second win of 2012 at his home track of Autodrome St-Eustache (QC) on Saturday, July 28th. Laperle had to fend off former champion Karl Allard in the closing laps, as well as point leader Jean-Francois Dery who was spoiled in search of his third win in a row on the Serie ACT Castrol.

Blainville, QC’s Jonathan Bouvrette lead the field to the green and ran away away after a brutal wreck off the start that claimed the car of Gaetan Gaudrealt. Bouvrette’s lead was short-lived, however, as his mirror was filled with two-time Serie ACT Castrol Champion Donald Theetge, who dove underneath to steal the lead on lap 15.

Brad Babb of Windham, Maine, finished fifth in the 45-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Pro Series feature at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, July 28. Babb, 19, extended his point lead with five races remaining with his fifth Top-5 finish in nine starts this season. Babb started 18th in the 22-car Super Late Model field, and without the benefit of a caution flag to tighten the field, worked his way into the Top-5 at the checkered flag. The “2012 Maine Young Guns” finalist entered the night with a 21-point lead atop the standings and finished ahead of his closest pursuers to increase his advantage at the top.

WAYNE PARRITT WINS 95 LATE MODEL FEATURE

Speedway 95Wayne Parritt of Steuben and Andy Saunders of Ellsworth waged a side by side battle for the lead following a lap 11 restart until Parritt finally pulled ahead in the final 5 laps to win the Dysart’s Late Model feature at Speedway 95 Saturday night. Saunders finished second with Donny Blanchard of Bangor taking third after a final lap melee in turn three jumbled the finishing order. Deane Smart of Bradley and Burnham’s Frank Moulton were racing for the third position when the cars touched, sending Smart off the track in turn three and Moulton spinning as he rounded turn four, allowing Blanchard to take the third spot. Head starter Jordan Harnish sent Moulton to the rear of the field at the finish for his part in starting the fracas. John Kalel II of Orrington was awarded fourth with Ryan Modery of Hermon, who had caused the lap 11 caution with his solo spin in thru four finished fifth. The remainder of the finishing order was 6. Duane Seekins, Stockton Springs ,7. Joey Doyon, Winterport, 8. Alex Waltz, Damariscotta, 9. Deane Smart, Bradley, 10. Frank Moulton, Burnham 11. Phil Richardson, Hermon and 12. Patrick Thibodeau, Winterport.

Ben Rowe Wins Pro Stock 150 at Speedway 660

Ben Rowe claimed an exciting victory in the Best of the Best Pro Stock 150 at Speedway 660 on Saturday night. The Turner, Maine driver also earned a guaranteed starting position in the Auto Value 250 on SpeedWeekend. Rowe, driving for the Hal O’Neal Racing team, was happy to get the win for his New Brunswick racing friends.

“These guys only race a couple of times a year and I am glad they asked me to come up here and drive for them because they are a great team and gave me a strong car tonight” said Rowe. “It sure was a handfull because the power steering let go early in the race and I am pretty much beat right now, but it’s great to get the win for these guys.”

The Pro All Star Series Tour driver struggled early in the race and took advantage of early cautions to get the crew to make adjustments on the car. He ended up coming to the front just before the half way mark and gave up the lead in the 2nd half of the race before passing Brian Gillespie for the win. Gillespie finished second, while Chris Duncan came home third. Matt Harris claimed fourth while Greg Fahey settled for fifth.

Austin Theriault Battles to Rain Shorten Win at Beech Ridge

Fort Kent, ME’s Austin Theriault secured his first career American Canadian Tour win in a rain shortened event at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, ME on Saturday, July 28. Theriault and his Pelletier Ford Ford Fusion battled with last year’s Beech Ridge ACT winner Jeff Taylor of Farmington, ME for the majority of the event and came out on top just before the fourth and final caution flew on lap 112 due to rain. Jay, ME’s Dave Farrington, Jr. had a career day and completed the all Maine and all Ford podium.

Twenty-nine American Canadian Tour Late Models took the green flag with the threat of rain looming over head. Taylor jumped to the lead from the pole position but not without Theriault all over his back bumper. Sporadic sprinkles of rain began around the lap 20 mark and Theriault decided to make his move, taking the lead on lap 26. The 18 year old Theriault broke out to a straight away lead and began picking off lap traffic until the first caution flew on lap 69.
