Nine drivers break old Cup qualifying record; Keselowski on pole
LOUDON, N.H. (July 12, 2013) – It was a record-breaking afternoon at the Magic Mile. Brad Keselowski zipped around the 1.058-mile oval at 135.922 miles per hour (28.022 seconds), setting a new track qualifying record in the process. It was the second career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series career pole at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and the first of the season for the defending Sprint Cup Series champion.
“We have a great race car here, and our race team is ready to hit its stride for the season,” said Keselowski, who enters Sunday’s Camping World RV Sales 301 13th in points. “We are hungry, we feel we can do it, but I don’t feel a sense of panic.”

Foust’s gaffe on final turn hands Fin second straight GRC win
LOUDON, N.H. (July 11, 2012) – Tanner Foust looked invincible. For nine laps Finnish teammates Toomas Heikkenen and Patrik Sandell tried to chase down Foust as he seamlessly navigated the dirt, jumps and chicanes. Then, out of nowhere, Foust showed he was human after all. Catching his right tire in the gravel as he entered the final elevated hairpin turn, Foust slid hard into the barrier, and Heikkenen shot past to win the SYLVANIA SilverStar zXe Global RallyCross Championship at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
“The rains and weather from earlier made the course difficult for everyone,” said Heikkenen, who picked up his second straight GRC win. “Tanner made a little mistake there – I didn’t expect that mistake from him. It was good to get the win, I will take it.”

Saturday’s NASCAR Nite Pro Series 40-lap feature event was won by Charlie Colby of Newcastle.
At the drop of the green, Saco’s Keith McKinnon paced the 18-car field to the green flag and led the first lap, but was overtaken by Sulo Burbank, of Gorham. Burbank led until lap five when Colby was able to gain momentum and pass Burbank for the lead in a three-wide scramble down the frontstrech.
A caution on lap ten bunched the 18-car field back together. On the restart, Colby was able to maintain the lead from Burbank and open up a sizable advantage.
By the halfway mark, current point leader Dan McKeage, of Gorham, was able to place himself inside the top five after starting from his 17th starting spot. After starting in the last starting spot, last week’s winner Tyler King of Livermore Falls was able to carry his momentum over to this week and place himself in the top-ten midway through the race.

Penfold Captures First Wiscasset Speedway Win of the Season
By Lisa Maguire
Last Saturday was bright and sunny as the racecars hit the track for five exciting feature races that included Super Stock, New England 4-Cylinder Pro Stock, Pro Stock, Thunder 4’s, and the flex race of the week, Outlaw Mini’s. It was Bath Iron Works Day, and employees of BIW received discounted admission prices.
First on the track was the Super Stock class. It was a quick, straightforward twenty-five lap race. The No. 1 driven by Adam Chadbourne, took the pole position. He was followed by the No. 05 driven by James Osmond, and Josh Bailey in the No. 2. Chadbourne surged off the finish line, but Osmond was behind him, dogging his heels. The No. 3 driven by Bobby Mesimer came up from the back of the pack to take third and challenged Osmond for position. The three raced in well- matched cars, but Chadbourne kept his lead through the remainder of the race. Chadbourne raced across the finish line with Osmond only a second behind. However, Chadbourne did not pass post-race inspection. Osmond took the win, making this his second win at Wiscasset this season. Mesimer, who ran the fastest lap in the race, placed second. Dan Nessmith driving the No. 48 finished third.

MAURICE YOUNG WINS 3RD ANNUAL IKEY DORR MEMORIAL AT SPEEDWAY 95
Maurice Young of Windsor started on the pole for the 50 lap Ikey Dorr Memorial Street Stock race at Speedway 95 Thursday night and it looked like an easy win for the visitor from Unity Raceway as he easily distanced himself from the field until the caution flag closed the field. A collision with Carl McAlpine of Burnham following a lap 29 restart spun them both out on the front stretch while fighting for the lead. Young and McAlpine were both sent to the rear of the field for the restart, and when the green flag waved, Young pointed his car toward the front and wheeled it through the field, taking the lead from Zach Audet of Skowhegan half way through lap 48 and leading the final lap and a half to post the win. Audet finished second with Burnham’s Chris King finishing third. Andy Turbovsky of Winslow finished fourth on the track, but was disqualified in post race inspection for an illegal camshaft. Ryan Robinson of Clinton was moved up to fourth with Carl McAlpine of Burnham awarded fifth. Rounding out the top ten were Zach Emerson of Sabattus in sixth, Hermon’s Bernie Thayer seventh, Jordan Pearson of Levant in eighth, Jim Robichaud of Orrington in ninth and Jim Bragdon of Corinth in tenth. 22 cars started the event, held in memory of Ikey Dorr of Addison, a former racer at Speedway 95 who died of a heart attack while racing on June 6, 2009, and for the benefit of Wreaths Across America.
In the Dysart’s Late Models, Ryan Deane of Winterport made it two feature wins in a row, bringing his total for the year to four as he led the field to the checkers after passing early leader John Kalel II of Orrington on the 13th lap. Andy Saunders of Ellsworth also got by Kalel and chased Deane for most of the race, but was unable to get close enough for a serious challenge without the help of the caution flag, which never flew in the 40 lap event. Kalel held on for a third place finish, with Deane Smart of Bradley and Lloyd Nickerson of Corinth rounding out the top five.
