bk2Nine drivers break old Cup qualifying record; Keselowski on pole

LOUDON, N.H. (July 12, 2013) – It was a record-breaking afternoon at the Magic Mile. Brad Keselowski zipped around the 1.058-mile oval at 135.922 miles per hour (28.022 seconds), setting a new track qualifying record in the process. It was the second career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series career pole at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and the first of the season for the defending Sprint Cup Series champion.

“We have a great race car here, and our race team is ready to hit its stride for the season,” said Keselowski, who enters Sunday’s Camping World RV Sales 301 13th in points. “We are hungry, we feel we can do it, but I don’t feel a sense of panic.”

Heikkenen Takes Advantage

LOUDON, N.H. (July 11, 2012) – Tanner Foust looked invincible. For nine laps Finnish teammates Toomas Heikkenen and Patrik Sandell tried to chase down Foust as he seamlessly navigated the dirt, jumps and chicanes. Then, out of nowhere, Foust showed he was human after all. Catching his right tire in the gravel as he entered the final elevated hairpin turn, Foust slid hard into the barrier, and Heikkenen shot past to win the SYLVANIA SilverStar zXe Global RallyCross Championship at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

“The rains and weather from earlier made the course difficult for everyone,” said Heikkenen, who picked up his second straight GRC win. “Tanner made a little mistake there – I didn’t expect that mistake from him. It was good to get the win, I will take it.”

Dillon, Hornish Jr. to Headline FanFest

dashLOUDON, N.H. (July 10, 2013) – New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials announced today that NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers Austin Dillon and Sam Hornish Jr. will sit down with Mark and 2K of WOKQ’s “Morning Waking Crew” during the annual free WOKQ FanFest on Thursday, July 11 at 7:45 p.m.

Dillon leads the NASCAR Nationwide Series with six poles and sits fifth in the standings. Hornish Jr. has a win, a series-high 12 top-10s and is positioned second in points. Not only will the two be in competition for the trophy in Saturday’s CNBC Prime’s “The Profit” 200, but they make up half of the eligible drivers for the NASCAR Nationwide Series “Dash 4 Cash,” a bonus program that awards four qualified pilots $100,000 to the highest finisher among those four drivers at the Magic Mile.

NHMS First Responder Tickets Donated by Hendrick Motorsports in Honor of Sean Collier

nhms_tag_11LOUDON, N.H. – Hendrick Motorsports has made a $5,000 donation to assist New Hampshire Motor Speedway in hosting first responders and their families during the track’s July 11-14 NASCAR weekend.

The donation was made in memory of Sean Collier, the MIT police officer who was killed April 18 during the Boston Marathon bombing. Collier’s brother, Andrew, is a machinist in the Hendrick Motorsports engine department.

The North Carolina-based race team fields the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series cars driven by Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kasey Kahne, and each of the four cars will carry a special decal in memory of Sean Collier during the July 14 Camping World RV Sales 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Strafford County Wins Race to Benefit Children

image006Deputy Mike Raiche’s Driving Skills Earn $10k for Child Advocacy Center

LOUDON, N.H.– With a sterling time of 44.334 seconds, Strafford County Deputy Mike Raiche burned through a tricky road course to capture the top spot of the 2013 Race to Benefit Children “Sheriffs Showdown.” Deputy Raiche narrowly held off Carroll County Sheriff Domenic Richardi to win the event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Raiche navigated his cruiser through a course featuring a slalom, a water hazard and multiple hairpin turns to take home a special prize for children in need. Thanks to his speedy driving, Deputy Raiche received a $10,000 check to help fund the Strafford County Child Advocacy Center (CAC), which assists children who are victims of crime and abuse.

Extreme Racing is Back! Global RallyCross Championship Returns to Magic Mile

LOUDON, N.H. – New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Global RallyCross officials announced today that the popular SYLVANIA Silverstar zXe Global RallyCross Championship race will return next month as part of the NASCAR race weekend activities. The popular, extreme sports event will run on a new day, Thursday, July 11 as part of the weekend and kick-off FanFest activities.

Door-to-door collisions. A 70-foot jump. And a 10-time X Games gold medalist in Victory Lane highlighted last year’s debut event. Overwhelmed by the positive feedback from fans, NHMS and GRC officials have worked since February to bring the series back this July. A new course setup will include a 140-foot long dirt ramp, which will replace the 70-foot steel ramp jump.
