Give and Take: NASCAR Sprint Cup Driver Ryan Newman Provides Local Shelter with Generous Donation and Goes for Vintage Spin at ‘The Magic Mile’
LOUDON, N.H. (June 13, 2012) – Ryan Newman knows his way around “The Magic Mile.” His track-record six poles and three victories in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series are a clear indication of that. But yesterday “The Rocket Man” traded his 850-horsepower Chevy Impala for a 1955 Chevrolet 210, taking military, media and fans for a spin around New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s 1.6-mile road course.
Newman, who won last July’s Cup race in New Hampshire, returned to Loudon to not only share his thoughts on a possible repeat performance in the LENOX Industrial Tools 301 on July 15, but to take part in some of his off-track passions, including his passion for animals, restoring classic cars and fishing.

Kid’s Night Approaches at Thunder Road
Kid’s Rides and More Slated for Harvest Equipment Night
Barre, VT – On Sunday, June 17, Barre’s Thunder Road will celebrate Harvest Equipment night with door to door racing from the Late Models, Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen, and Allen Lumber Street Stocks with a special twist.
The stars and cars of Thunder Road will be in attendance early to give kids free rides around the high banks starting at 1:15pm. Also, all Scouts and Little League participants in uniform, as well as participants in the Race to Read program who have shown progress on their reading lists, will get into the show for free. There will also be Kid’s Trike Races for ages 3-4 and 5-6 during intermission. It will surely be a night to remember for young race fans.

Dery Clings to Slim ACT Castrol Lead
Waterbury, VT – After two stops on the Serié ACT Castrol tour, competition remains as tight as ever amongst Canadian race teams. Quebec’s Jean–François Déry retains the point lead, but it has now been reduced to a trim two points after Boischatel, QC’s Donald Theetge delivered on a big win.
Déry has come out of the gate on fire in 2012 dominating the opening event before settling for third and backing it up with another third place finish at Autodrome Chaudiere. Déry is searching for his first ACT Série Castrol Championship, but two-time Champion Donald Theetge has put the heat on following a victory at Autodrome Chaudiere which vaulted him from mid pack to just two points out of the lead in second.

Granite State Pro Stock Series Heads to Unity Raceway
Series only visit to the Pine Tree State comes on June 23
The Granite State Pro Stock Series will head to the Pine Tree State on Saturday, June 23 to visit the tricky one-third mile Unity Raceway in Unity, ME for race number two of the season. Over 20 cars are expected for the 112-lap main event and the series only appearance in the state of Maine in 2012.
Drivers from all across New England are expected to travel to Maine’s toughest oval, including 15-year old Derek Griffith of Hudson, NH. Griffith scored a second place finish in his first Pro Stock race in the season opening David’s House 106 at Monadnock Speedway.

The second annual Big John Phippen Memorial Race, presented by Clark’s Car Crushing, highlights a Father’s Day Weekend doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Unity Raceway. Twin 59-lap main events for Maine’s Fastest Late Model class, offering $1500 to the winner, make up the Phippen Memorial main event.
Phippen, of Town Hill, passed away two years ago minutes after climbing from his racecar at Speedway 95 in Hermon. He racked up many victories at Unity Raceway, Speedway 95 and Wiscasset raceway, and was a champion at all three oval tracks during his long and storied stock car racing career.
